Buenos noches y bienvenidos de Día del Niños!!

Here in Huatulco, lots of toys for sale, but not much in the way of celebrations. I was reading the Oaxaca periodico and they have many articles about the big fiestas they will be having in the capital city.

Y mañana…Día del Trabajo, Labour Day.

How was our day? Let’s just start by saying we might have set a new record!! Max was up at 4am…and did not go back to sleep. Doph.

Bex hung out with him until 6am and then out came the Whisperer…but no luck Chuck, we were up for the morning. Yikes.

So what did we do? 7am prowl and then back home for the AM rutina and then back out again at 915am.

Max is feeling much better, mucho mejor, but still is very clingy and wants to be carried waaaay more then ever before. We are sticking to the theory that it is the separation anxiety, as at home, he is pretty normal.

We returned from our 2nd prowl at 10am, and having been up for 6 hours, Max managed only a few sips of leche before he was lights out!!

And just shy of 3 hours later, he bolted up, threw out his chupie and started babbling about something. He was probably talking about perros, autobuses, llanta, el sol, la luna or the camioneta verde. Ja ja ja

One more day of keeping his ears dry, so after a walk and comida, Max y madre hit the mall for some bouncing and then did another prowl.

And after that, leche stop at the casa and then out on the bici while Bubba put together la cena and did the PM rutina prep.

Earlier I hit el gimnasio and had some sol time at the alberca…not going in for another day…el raton issues!!

We all had a good dinner, a FT con Oma and Opa that was going well until the lil’tina man wanted out of his tub…before Bex had washed him down. Doph.

So we sign off with the abuelos and that allowed Max to stay tranquilo until he was cleaned up.

Funny how our tired niño always gets a 2nd wind right before bedtime. Hmmmm...what up with that?

Currently 935pm and round one of bedtime is occurring. Buen suerte…wish us luck.

Fotos...but first a story.

So I came home after the gym and saw that the bici was still in the stand, so that meant the familia was on the prowl around town.

I decided to take a quick look for them, and as the town isn't big, I knew where to look and found them in the centro comercial, mall.

Now, they did not see me...and these fotos would have been a sorpresa, surprise, except for the guardia de seguridad, security guard.

As I was taking fotos, he came over and told me I was not allowed to take fotos of the mall. I told him I was taking fotos of mi hijo and he said ok and left.

I guess after I left, he approached Bex and made comment about her esposo taking fotos of her and she told him it wasn't me...I was at el gimnasio.

But she figured it was me and thus...no surprise. The surprise will be the next time I go to the mall and get arrested. Doph. Enjoy the trampolín series.

With our Huatulco theatre in the background, Max's trampoline.

I watched Max burn off a few hundred calorías while doing laps.

And the lil'man knows how to get air!!

A little spill...how doe the lil'man handle it?

With a smile and a laugh!! Phew...our lil'man is back!!

And while madre is not looking...a lil'raspberry!!

Another thing I have seen here that I have NEVER seen in Canada...store owners planting their own plants outside their tiendas.

Some super fresh plantains, also known as cooking bananas.

Oh Senora Lydia...and you complained about us having things outside our door?

Mañana…all important reporting of the weather stats for abril!! Now that Max is better….sometime this week it will have to be hola to Mojon before the lluvia comes!!

Oh yeah...we did manage to get Max's INM fotos!! He had been awake for over 5 hours so I wasn't sure how it would turn out, but I LOVE the new mug shots!!

Have a great miercoles.

Buenos noches.

So here are some definite myths, that before I became a padre, I had been told were facts.

There is no way changing your own niño’s panale is better then some other kids.

Terrible 2’s? They start at 18 months!!

Ok, maybe these are not the 2’s yet…but Max has been a handful the past few days!! I guess he is making up for lost time, all the time he was such an easy go lucky niño?

We think it is a combination, kinda like the Perfect Storm. An infection in his ears and throat, taking oh so yummy meds for those ailments, another tooth coming in, AND separation anxiety, which is supposed t peak at 18 months…5 de mayo for us!!

Click HERE if you feel like a light read on separation anxiety.

So, quite a handful. All we can do is try to help the lil’man out by giving him his meds, some Kanka o Tylenol for the diente and carry him a whole lot more then we have been used to.

As for taking the meds…he is now a trooper!! He winces before they get close to his boca, but he now opens his mouth and allows us to squirt the gotas into his mouth. No more spoon, we bought a syringe and removed the needle…easy peasy!!

Our día? It is hot. How hot? So hot that at 4pm I was sitting at the deserted alberca, getting some sol, when a rat jumped into the pool and started doing laps.

You think I jest? Ah no. I managed to keep the el raton from exiting the pool and ran and got Marcos, one of the trabajadores to come assist.

Hola to the pool skimmer, followed by hola to the sole of his flip flop. Yikes.

Even though I know there are chemicals in the pool that are checked daily, I am NOT swimming for a few days.

Can you imagine a late night swim and bumping into one of those critters. Ooops…sorry Bex!! Hee hee hee

Of course, at the pool, I also once saw a snake fall out of the tree I was sitting under. Ahhhh Mexico.

Back to the day…early wake up for the boys, but a pretty good sleep, so we were up and at’em. Not a bad desayunos and off to Che.

Max LOVES to push the cart and THROW items into it. Senor Suave is still working on that skill.

Good siesta at home and then I hit el gimnasio and the familia spent the afternoon together. Bex went through the whole book of tricks and managed to keep Max level headed during their time together.

After the swimming rat, I took the lil’man out for a prowl and then we had some good eats para la cena.

Facetime con Oma y Opa, tina time and the lil’guy was lights out before the Whisperer even had to come into the room. Score!!

Currently 930pm and all is tranquilo. Just had a FT con mi amigo, Kent “I split facecards”  Melon…always good to catch up.

Fotos!!

From ayer...just prowl'in around.

And from today...the new gorra is a gift from Memo, a Canadian neighbor.

I miss our happy y full o'energia lil'man.

Look at the size of that taxi...full of niños. Doph.

This senora mixes up some pails of a homemade beverage and then walks around town selling it. Tough gig.

Another month and this canal will be full o'agua due to all the lluvia.

Misc

And all of a sudden…I am the proud owner of a new Amex card!! Not sure what all the fuss was about, but after 3 attempts at calling Amex, they never got back to me and today a courier arrived with my new card. Ta-da.

Santa Cruz Abarrotes scores? Hello to more cheddar!! Vida es buena!!

Mañana? If Max is up for it, we will get his inmigracion fotos taken. Stay tuned. As well...mañana is Día del Niño!! Maybe a paleta para Max!!

Have a great martes!!

Every now and then, Bubba the Blogger just needs a night off...and tonight is one of those nights!!

All is good, Max is still on the mend, but it is late and I have the lil'man tonight, so I am just going to kick back until it is time to hit the sack.

So, I owe you all some fotos and hope mañana is the día I catch up...but it is a Che day so we will have to see.

Have a great lunes!!

Buenos noches.

Currently 825pm and Max is lights out...Tylenol'd up. The race is on and Bex has headed out for a verdura y fruta run.

How is the familia? Los padres are pooped!! And the lil'man is slowly on the mend.

The day started waaaay early and Max was one unhappy customer. He was upset with everything and anything, and that is not our lil'man.

Bex took him for a waaaay early prowl and that kept him sane until I awoke at 7am and promptly headed out with him for another prowl.

Managed a good desayunos and then headed out for Max's 3rd prowl of the day. More of a carry as he was not into much walking and we think he is still fighting off these infections.

Today we spotted a bunch of dried liquid on his ear, the ear that had NOT been hurting him the past few days. Doph.

It could be infection related or based on our web browsing, it could be an eardrum rupture...doph.

The boys had a good siesta and I rolled out at 1pm to go for my moto ride con Rick. We had a fun ride and a cold one upon the return to his casa, but I am skipping the ride mañana so I can spend some time with the lil'man if he needs me.

And while I was out...Max was one unhappy camper. Bex handled it well, but had to be on her toes to keep Max from melting down. When I came home from my ride, the two of them were on a bike ride...keeping Max lassoed, but not cooped up.

Tough, when due to his ear, we need to avoid the pool y del mar...the boy loves his float!!

We will see how Max feels mañana, and if we are not happy with the results, it will be back to the doctor on lunes.

UPDATE

Madre is back from her shopping and tells me that on her walk back from SCA, 4 groups of peeps expressed their concern for the lil'man and hope he gets better soon. Our muy famoso hijo is cherished in this town of ours!!

Back to the day....

Max was in a much better state of mind after his bike ride con madre and we all had a good dinner, our normal FT con Oma y Opa, tina time and then lights out. The Whisperer scooped him off the bed and plopped him into the cuna...easy peasy.

No foto sábado...hope to make that up to you mañana. Nothing extra planned, just hoping for a contento y saludable niño!!

Have a great domingo.

Buenos noches and I am happy to report that the lil’man is feeling mejor…much better!! Phew is all we can collectively sigh here!!

Max had a good start to the night, was up for almost an hour at 3am, and then the Whisperer came in at 4am and we managed to sleep until 7am!!

Great desayunos due to the fact he had almost no cena last night, and we had a good walk/carry. Max was still a little tired so padre picked up the slack with some carrying.

A wacky thing? We bought a carrot muffin and Max had a few bites and some agua too. About 5 minutes later I notice he has a mouth full of muffin y agua, and will not swallow it…or spit it out.

He did this for over 10 minutes, all the way home and it wasn’t until we were home and over the sink, did we get him to spit it out…by plugging his nose until he opened his mouth. Wacky.

The meds he is taking are doing their job and due to the fact that he does not seem to be in discomfort, we stopped with the Tylenol. But what up with meds that need to be given every 8 hours? Who wants to wake their niño up at 3am to get them to take their meds?

I am thinking a 12 hour med is the way to go. That way they are medicated t 7pm and 7am…ta da. Must not be enough profit in that method?

Good siesta and then padre took another hour or so as the last two nights have wiped me out.

I did manage to get to the gym as well as drop off the recycling and then hit the CP alberca con el familia.

We were in the sombra, shade, and Max with his water wings, just floats around the pool. Kicking his legs sometimes, doing spins and most of the time, not drinking the pool water!!

I was truly impressed at how comfortable he is in the water and all the credit goes to his swim coach, Bex, who every day has been working with him. Pretty neat to see and waaaay easier keeping an eye on him now vs even a month ago when you always needed to have at least one hand on him at all times.

Trying to keep Max cooler and not over worked, Max y madre had a prowl around town, hitting up a few tiendas while saying hola to lots of peeps and meeting some new ones as well.

Easy dinner, a good tina time and a FT con Oma y Opa and at 720pm, Max y madre are in round 1 of bedtime.

Not being well, we let Max sleep on the bed with us, but tonight he needs to be back in the cuna…wish us luck!!

Fotos...and I really need to get a new lense as I lost a bunch of great, but blurry fotos. Argh.

Just coming down the ladder from the roof top hot tub!!

Max saw 2 gatos today. Guess where one of them is hiding from Senor Suave?

The other one also gave Max the slip, but not for lack of trying.

Max loves riding on the bici con madre. Here he is thinking about getting his own bike.

Too hot to be carrying these toy chests around.

Mañana? I cancelled the moto ride today, but might be able to get it in mañana. If so, I am hoping the domingo ride is still a go.

Doph...it just dawned on me that today is viernes!! The race is tomorrow...phew, almost missed that one!! Ja ja ja

Misc

Just heard back from DF…they have my pasaporte application!! They are just waiting to hear back from me on a question they have…when was the last time I worked. I told them I do a mop of the condo EVERY day!!

Buen fin de semana!!

Now does that look like a niño who was not well last night?

Wow...what a 24 hours this has been. Last night we let you know about the red alert...lil'man not feeling well.

This morning after a pretty good sleep, Max was Max, the fever was gone and pending desayunos, we had gone from red alert to Def Con 2.

But after our siesta, and just like ayer, Max was not well again. He showed up at our lunch at Los Portales, looking a little Def Con 3, but toughed it out as the trooper usually does.

And while I was driving our guests back to Santa Cruz, Max y madre were out for a walk when all of a sudden Max essentially asks to be picked up, and collapses in madre's arms. Hola to Def Con 4.

Stupid move...we are separated and I have the casa keys and the familia was waiting for me to return, but once inside the chill room, Max is almost passed out and is on fire.

We cool him down and give him even more agua, and he stabilizes at Def Con 4, with a 38,5 grado fever.

I call our pediatra and get a cita for 6pm, 2 hours away. Some snoozing and then just staying in the chill room until it was time to go.

Normally, like with most of our Mexican citas, we have to wait, but today the doctor was ready for us.

Max was not happy, but only because he is not well, and after his exam, we were told he has an throat infection, quite common in niños, that has started to affect his ear. How did we know his ear was bothering him? Because when we said "show us what hurts", Max touched his ear. Smart niño!!

The plan is Tylenol for pain and then 2 other drugs for the throat and ear issue. Bex y Max went home and I was off to the farmacia and grabbed the goods. Only issue? The drugs were in powder form and I could not understand how to get them into liquid form.

Hola to mi amigo Daniel and it turned out the instructions were quite easy. Add water to below the line, shake hard and then add water up to the line. Ta da. But since when did drug companies start selling their products in a powder that needs water added?

I headed home to find Max in the chill room...not hungry and did not want his tina. He wanted to be rocked by his madre!! So we went into bedtime rutina and Bex took Max and I cleaned up, ate some cena and at 945pm, I am with Max and Bex is hard at work in the oficina.

Fotos.

Da avion, da avion.

It can be a long and lonesome walk to el camioneta verde.

Click on these fotos to see the tongue series!!

And this is how Max fell asleep for his nap. Score!!

Misc

How did our lunch go? easy peasy!! I picked up our guests from the iglesia in Santa Cruz, where they  were very wisely staying cool.

We took the 5 minute drive to Los Portales and I gave them the grand La Crucecita tour. We received a great care packed from Victoria BC...hola to home made short bread cookies!! Bex scored on some Fibre Uno bars and Max loaded up on a great puzzle y libro from his Oma y Opa and some animal figures from Rosemarie y Stan.

Good eats, nice peeps to meet and chat up, but Max was not well and we took turns keeping him as happy as possible.

It was interesting for them as they saw how many peeps stopped by to say hola to Max.

Che run on the way home from dropping off the guests...scored on leche fresca!!

Mañana? It is all based on how Max is feeling. If he is ok, we will do our normal AM rutina and I will go meet Rick for a moto ride. If Max isn't Max, I will stay home con the familia and help take care of the lil'man.

Oh, and up at 3am to give Max his meds...fun times!!

Have a great viernes...already?
