So...that was a foto of a níno who for the first time ever, tread water in the deep end by himself...for 10 seconds!! And was smart enough to ask for his Poppa y Momma when he needed help!! We are soooo proud!!

Glasses courtesy of our amiga Roseanne. Gracias again.

Buenos noches y Feliz Halloween!!

Currently 710pm and round one is under way. We had a great day and it started with another great night of sleep...phew. Some 4am wackiness...Max pointing out the window and we think in his sleep, asking madre to turn off the street lights. But other then that, all good until the 6am wake up came.

Poppa and Max had the usual rutinas and Max is now digging some instant oatmeal for breakfast. Manzana y canela...I would have eaten that if it was around when I was his age. Me? I starved a week at camp due to the porridge/gruel they served for breakfast!!

After prowl y desyunos, it was off for familia swim time...and you know all about that exciting adventure!!

Off for leche y siesta and then onto the afternoon rutinas of el gimnasio and home set up for Poppa and for the familia it was comida and then the playa.

We met back early and after leche, the boys went out for a pre-cena prowl. Lots going on as everyone seems to be stocking up for Día de los Muertos.

Home for dinner and it was a quick and easy one, and being finished before 6pm...we went for a familia prowl.

Oh Max loves the prowl and all the peeps love seeing the lil'man.

Home for tina time, a quick FT con Oma y Opa and off to bed. You are all caught up...onto the fotos.

We were about to go "up, up and away"...but Super Max forgot he had no playera o capa on. Doph.

Now we are listo, ready.

Is this hielo? Or kryptonite?

This chica admirer looks a little timida of Super Max.

Only one thing to do to make her feel more comfortable.

A foto of her parents trying to take a foto of the 2 niños. I wished them luck on getting Max to look at their camera.

Off to the escuela to see if anyone needed any saving.

Or maybe Super Max just wanted a dona...dona. Note how many peeps are admiring him!!

Not sure what the trail of flowers meant, but some peeps almost had a heart attack as Max started to clean it up!! Ja ja ja

A beautiful Mexican tradition.

Bolsa of Cheerios and a few galletas and Super Max is super chilled.

So much so that he almost forgot about his Poppa. Oh Max.

No Poppa, I am right here...aqui.

Every time we pass this poster advertising surf lessons, Max stops and says it is his Momma.

Another Día de los Muertos altar, this time from inside the panificadora.

It doesn't take much to set up a road side flower shop.

Super Max's sidekick Bat Max, came out for the pre-cena prowl....and is he ever tonto!!

On the exterior of the tiangus, market, peeps have set up some more stands to sell their Día de los Muertos productos. And here Max is checking out all the goods...muy curioso as always.

Well, that was an interesting end of the día bedtime. Bex had Max for 30 minutos and then The Whisperer came in to close the show. Max plopped onto the bed and after a few minutes he started his spelling....M,A,X...M,A,X...M,A,X...M,A,X....M,A,X....M,A,zzzzzzzzzz.

Plopped into his cuna and lights out before 8pm. Score!!

Oh, I know you can hardly wait for the octubre weather stats...mañana mis amigos!!

Have a great viernes!!

Buenos noches!!

Currently 730pm and we are 1/2 way through round one of bedtime. We have been go go go since we all met back for leche y clean up.

We ate our burgers, did some clean up and headed out the door for our 6pm cita con el doctora.

And lucky for us, the heavy downpour had stopped. Not lucky for us was that it must have been 85% humido as we walked to the doctor...mucha calor!!

Why the pediatra? We wanted to have Max's 2 year check up and we have some concerns about a luna, mole, on Max's arm, that has gotten bigger. He also seems to have some bug bites on his leg and we have been concerned about how hot he always seems to be.

Good news? We are getting cream for the bug bites, niños are typically hot due to their metabolism and the doctor is not worried about the mole.

The so-so news? She says we should get it looked at by an expert, just to be sure, and there are no experts within 5 hours of Huatulco.

Good news? She has an amiga who is a dermatologist for niños, and if she comes to visit, our doctor will make sure she looks at Max.

Bex and I will chat it up as there is no easy solution, but there is only one answer...what ever is in the best interest of the lil'man.

We make sure Max has lots of lotion on, even for the AM prowl, and as you can tell by how fair he still looks, we are doing a good job with that. Stay tuned.

Some Max numbers? At 2 years old, he is tipping the scales at 14.1 kilos and is 87cm tall. How does this relate to the average niño? He is bang on at the 50th percentile for height and is in the 90th percentile in weight. Not worried about that as he is one stocky niño!!

Fun doctor story? Max and I are prowling and Bex is talking up the doctor (great español Bex!!) and the doctor has forgotten to tell her what Max needs for his bug bites. Por que? Because she said she was so enamoured with him!!

He was such a good patient and impressed the doctor with his words in ingles y espanol, how silly he is and when he said adios. Score!!!

And how fun was the walk home from the doctor? Max was having a hoot being out and about at 645pm and as his padres followed him to Oxxo and then home, all we heard was laughing and chuckling. What a lil'man!!

As for the rest of our day, a usual day. Max had a good sleep and for the first time in a while, he actually slept the night in his cuna...on Bex's shift. Oh he loves his Momma, and somehow usually manages to convince her that he needs to sleep with her!!

And...no leche request at 4am...score!!

Poppa took over at 7am and the boys had their usual rutina of prowl and desayunos. We managed to squeek in some familia swim time, but might have pushed it by 15 minutos too long, as Max started to show his tiger stripes as he was having his leche.

He won't fall asleep and didn't want to be rocked to sleep...oh Max.

A great siesta...it might have been too long and we will see if that affects tonight's bed time. Light out at 11am and he did not wake up until 2pm. Wow!! I piggybacked on this siesta, but only for 90 minutos!!

We woke up to hear voices coming from the sala, living room and we were pleasantly surprised to receive a nice package of clothes and such for Max. These came from an amiga, Roseanne, who has arrived back at the CP for a vacation. Muchos gracias.

I headed off to el gimnasio and then home for the set up, while the familia had their comida and then were off to playa Santa Cruz for a fun filled afternoon.

We met back at home, and you know the rest of our día.

Fotos.

Sprinkler miercoles.

Max is working his way down the line.

Overcast skies above Max's alberca.

Testing the temps for our familia swim...and el sol came out for the swim!!

Come on Poppa...time for the prowl.

A Día de los Muertos altar has been set up in the zocalo.

Max helping madre make their comida.

From my walk to el gimnasio and I am passing a newly built Oxxo, the Mexican 7-11. It looks like CFE is doing some electrical work.

This looks unique.

As does the grounding of the wires...doph.

Let the animales out of their cage!!

With Día de los Muertos coming soon, peeps are stocking up on their sugar cane, used in displays.

I am told it is used as a sweet item to offer to the departed....dead peeps.

As for last night, movie night was a success in the sense that we spent some QT together...and almost uninterrupted. Max did sit up once, but by the time I got into his recamara, he was laying down and 30 seconds later...lights out.

As for the movie...Academy Award for Meryl Strep was deserved...but the rest of the movie was a yawner for us. We did not know we would be seeing Margaret Thatcher go loony...we don't need a movie to see loonie people in our casa!! ja ja ja

Mañana? Happy Halloween to all of you that celebrate this day!! Not much happens here, but Max did get invited to an escuela for a little trick or treating at 9am. Super Max might have to make an appearance. Stay tuned!!

Last foto of the día...a rare foto of the complete family.

Hasta mañana!!

Ahhh... the look of the niño that decided 515am was wake up time. Oh Max!!

Buenos tardes and welcome to movie night in Huatulco!! Oh yes...date night for Bex y Bubba as we have rented Iron Lady (a movie about a car?) and will be watching it tonight after the lil'man is lights out.

Of course the goal is 8pm...but it could be earlier or later!! ja ja ja

So, with the current time being 445pm and with the casa ready for the PM rutina, leche y la cena, I thought I would start typing. That and the lil'tremor we just had was a good reminder to get going!!

Today's blog is brought to you by the palabras "poste" y "wacky". I will expand on that soon.

We had the early morning rutina, followed by the pre-prowl rutina and then right into the prowl, desayunos and with today being martes, it was a Che day.

And where does today's wackiness come in? Once at Che, Max was fixated on the bakery. I had taken him there last time and we talked about all the trabajadores and what work they were doing. We talked about the mixers and the ovens as well.

He has started mentioning and pointing to the smoke stack at the polleria across the calle and today all he wanted to talk about at the bakery, where the vents leading from the ovens and up to the ceiling and through the roof.

Our cart is in aisle one and I have to promise him we will come back to the bakery, just so we can shop and get the cart to aisle 4.

Once there, we leave it and go back to the bakery...to stare at these exhaust tubes.

I pry him away and we continue shopping and as we are almost done, we end up where the leche is stored...right next to the bakery. Doph.

So off to the bakery we go and after another 5 minutes we grab our leche and head to the caja, cashier. And what do I hear for 10 minutes as we wait in line, finally unload the groceries and pay? One palabra nonstop..."smokestack".

The niños that bag the groceries have all come over to say hola hola and I have to explain that Max is fixated on smokestacks. They do not understand why, who does, but one niño who speaks very good ingles, tells me that a smokestack is a  chimenea. Who knew?

We get home and madre meets us at the camioneta so padre can lug the abarrotes upstairs. Max is still talking about smokestacks, so Bex shows him the one across the calle.

Time for leche y siesta, and who is now crying because he wants to see a smokestack? Trust me, it was not Bubba. So who runs downstairs with the camera to take a foto similar to this....

And then runs back upstairs to show his hijo, allowing him to finally calm down, stop crying and fall asleep? Yes, that would be Bubba. They don't write about this stuff in the parenting books!!

It was a 2 hour siesta and it might have been longer if Bubba had not bolted out of bed...doph.

And post siesta? Bubba off to el gimnasio and then home for the rutinas while the familia had a one hour pool session, followed by their comida and then an hour or so playing on the playa. Sounds like one super fun afternoon!!

Ok...time to get cooking. Ok, it is Polish sausage night and I am having leftovers, so really it is time to get the water boiling!!

Hasta pronto.

Hola hola. We all met back for clean up and leche, and then went straight into la cena. Clean up, tina time, FT con Oma y Opa and off to bed.

It is currently 715pm and we are 1/2 way through round one. Stay tuned!!

It looks like movie night will start at 8pm as it is 745pm and Max was lights out at 730pm. Good work madre!!

Fotos.

The ground around Max's arbol was wet y muddy, so he took the next best thing, the steel poste.

Another poste and along with eating the Cheerios, this dump truck gets it's llantas inspected.

It looks like the inspector was not happy with what he saw.

People.

Another poste?

Yes Poppa...I like poste.

Checking to make sure we are not being followed by "people".

I was walking along and turned around to see where mi hijo was.

Some of the many expressions of Max Van.

Día de los Muertos is coming up and a small amount of the flowers used to celebrate the Day of the Dead have arrived.

We came upon this moto and the remnants of a whole lot of tortillas.

And then the tamarindos arrived. Looks like the black truck and the moto were involved in a 8-11 incident...a moving violation of a tortilla moto.

Seen on the gates in front of a driveway. Spanish lesson of the day.

The E with the line through it means no estacionarse, no parking. Se ponchan llantas gratis is loosely translated as "we will spike your tires for free".

Quote of the día, courtesy of the lil'man? As they walk on the playa, a senorita approaches Max y madre, and Max very politely says "hola". Actually he said "hola, boobies"...ahhhh, mi hijo. Oh Max!!

Sunwing is in full swing...lots of Canadians just arrived. Bring out the ashtrays.

Ok, off to show the blog to the Iron Lady and then watch the movie.

Have a great miercoles.
