From ayer, Max taking a post cena siesta.

Buenos tardes! Currently 3pm and I am attempting to finish watching Butch Cassidy...it has only taken 4 attempts!!

The familia is in the CP alberca trying to get a swim in before the nube obscura and possibly the lluvia arrive. We had some showers overnight, it was dry enough for a bici tour at 930am, sunny afternoon and the wacky clouds over del mar look like they are headed our way. Stay tuned.

The día? So far, a lot better then ayer, with a trace of defiance...doph. But last night after the lil'man was lights out, it was time for some reading up and Dr Sears has provided us with THESE 25 tips on how to help ensure Max listens to us. Buen suerte!! Ja ja ja...but not really!!

A long bed time, but the lil'guy was asleep in his cuna by 830pm...phew.

A false alert pee break at 11pm, but a wet panale anyway so it was changed...and was soaking wet at 545am...as was the cuna. Argh.

A good noche though, Max slept right through and I think he appreciated the fact that we could sleep with the window open and the a/c turned off!! All the humido disappeared around 9pm and overnight we actually hit 25,0 grados....brrrrrr.

After a cuna pit stop, it was time for leche and then some videos. Poppa grabbed some more zzzz and was up at 715am to set up the palacio. Max followed suit at 745am and then after some tranquilo time, it was time for the huge desayunos. Lots of fruta today as well as huevos, cereal, yogurt y Gerbers.

I got the sense that Max understood what had transpired ayer, as he told me he knew I missed the bici ride and that he did too.

Happy to report that the lluvia from overnight had dried up enough for the bici to come out...and Max was super excited!!

We loaded up and hit the road. We had 90 minutos before leche y libros time, and we used up all of it!!

Off to Soriana...more on that in the fotos...and then back through town, the zocalo, a few side streets, SCA for huevos and then ta da...casa Van-Arnold!!

And due to the early wake up and all the bicing around town, Max was due for a siesta and Bex did a great job getting him to take one...lights out around media día!!

I was busy re-doing the No Tocar sign on Max's casco, but put that aside and joined the lil'snoozer in his chill room.

And after an hour plus, the lil'man sat up and looked and acted like a boxer who had just gone 15 rounds...punch drunk.

His ojos were wild and he couldn't focus...but then smiled at me, came into my "nook" and reviewed the fotos we had taken during the tour.

He then joined his madre for some "scratch your head" wackiness...he dumped out his bins of toys and then wanted to cook madre a huevo para comida, but did not want to clean up his toys.

And the defiant way he acted about it...not our lil'man. Oh...he has never not cleaned up his toys at breakfast time...hmmmm.

I asked madre if she wanted me to cook her huevo and as soon as she said yes and Max thought I was going to do it...the toys were being flung into the bins mas rapido!!

They cooked their comida and I was off to buy some brackets...time to attach the new sign onto Max's casco!!

When I came home...off to the pool they went and I had some tranquilo time and blog update time.

The familia is back from the pool and about to head out for a bici tour.

Onto the fotos!!

It was still mojado out there, but dry enough for the bici!! So here are the pre-tour poses.

Poco viento...blowing hair into Max's ojos. He hates that.

But with a flick of the wrist...ta da.

Back to posing.

Hey Max, how about you give me ONE with a smile, and then we can leave.

Spotting madre, the besito is blown and delivered.

Hey madre, I think I found the flip flop you lost at playa Mojon.

930am on domingo and these comedor economicos are busy!!

Many Mexicanos in a small town like Huatulco, live in rooming houses with no cocinas and then eat all their meals on the road.

They could go to Antojito (snack) Nellys and have barbacoa de chivo (goat), eskimos or a sandwish!!

A lil'donde es el niño?

Into Soriana and Max has found a camion he would like to buy.

And was then reminded about the 7 "businesses" he had to do ON the baño before we would buy him it. Check out the expression on his face.

But we did find the Hot Wheels and Matchboxes and bought 5 of them...more on that later.

Here are 4 (of many) expressions that the panque at Soriana can elicit.

We had popped into the main zapeteria in town to see if they had more tenis for Max, and after looking into the mirrors, Max says to me "Poppa, these are just reflections".

After letting him know he had not listened to me, Max looks a lil'triste. We hugged it out before we moved on.

And if the abrazo did not put a smile on his face, this puddle did.

The Hot Wheels? Taped to the baño wall!! Do some business in the baño, you get to open one package. Stay tuned for any updates!! Ja ja ja

Misc

Kinda funny...kinda not. After Max lost his post cena walk (last night), and was in his corner time out, madre took down the basura and told us that she was going for a walk to the iglesia, and would see if Max's amigo Antonio was there.

As she is walking down the exterior steps, Max is yelling at her "bye madre...say hello to Antonio...say hello to Antonio".

Oh...after some 20 years of smoking, we are all happy to report that Bex is going on 5 years puff free. We see our share of smokers here and we are doing our best to educate Max on smoking, vs trying to scare the crap out of him, as we feel telling him he cannot smoke, vs showing him why he shouldn't might just lead him to be defiant and try smoking in the future.

If he smells smoke, his nose cringes and he says "humo malo". If he sees someone smoking he may say "they have an addiction" or "smoking will make your lungs go black".

Why did I never get hooked on smoking? When I was 9 or 10 years old, and living in Mississauga Ontario, we had this bookmobile come to the local school during summer. It pulls up and was full of books (duh...bookmobile), but the Heart and Lung Association had a display of a real healthy lung and one of a smoker...yikes.

Seeing the black lung was enough for me to not pick up the cigarette habit. Bex found THIS lil'video clip online and we just explained it and showed it to Max...and he asked to watch it una mas vez!!

Ok...time to clean up and at 450pm the fries go into the oven!!

Back at you after tina time. Hasta pronto.

Buenos noches!! The leche y libros have just started and I have 30 minutos before The Niño Whisperer goes in to close the show...so let's end this blog update mas rapido...so I can watch a little Nascar before getting the lil'man to fall asleep!!

Bex and I both just complimented Max on what a nice niño he has been today and tonight. Very polite and helpful and listening to us waaaaaay more then ayer. We will take this regalo as it has been a tough month!!

We had a great dinner and Max ate the complete dinner!! Burger patty, some pan, fries and jitomate...gone!!

A FT con Oma y Opa, a video, some dessert, clean up, a nice bici tour that included some fun dancing with his amigo Antonio and also included some hilarious laughing at his Poppa being tonto, then it was home for tina time (and due to all the bici riding from today, it included some epsom salts), a lay down on the couch to get changed up for bed...and ta da...the día!!

Post bed time you can find me on the couch!!

Mañana...lunes again. Probably find time to watch the end of the race and of course I will find time to update and report the weather stats from agosto!!

Hasta mañana.

A VERY wet morning and here we have Max standing next to a very large puddle. You know what is coming next...keep reading to see the fotos!!

Buenos tardes!! A wet and overcast día here in Huatulco, and at 445pm, Max y Bex are out for a prowl, packing dos paraguas...just in case.

Me? Home from el gimnasio and after some clean up and tranquilo time, I type away with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid playing on the tele.

Chuletas de cerdo lomo in 45 minutos...time to type away.

We had another good bed time...20 minutos com padre and then after the 11pm pee break, which included a playera y cuna change (ugh), Max had a great night's sleep. That means padre did too!!

Awake at 620am and then onto the rutinas...videos, tranquilo time, desayunos and happy to report that the lluvia we experienced when we awoke, had stopped by the time desayunos was over.

Too wet for a bici tour, but great prowling weather...if you can beat the humido that was due to come...and did.

The plan was to be home at 1130am, 5 hours after wake up, but after 90 minutos of prowl...it was too stinking hot, as Max would say.

So...into the chilly CP alberca for a good familia swim!! Madre left us early and The Boys continued on their underwater adventuras!! And if Max had come out of the alberca after the 3rd time I asked...and had not made me come in to retrieve him, he would not have lost his post-cena bici privileges. Oh Max!!

Upstairs for leche y libros and after doing a move on Bex that made her throw out her back, The Niño Whisperer was called into duty. And 15 minutos later, Max was lights out and after 5 more minutos...Bubba was out too!! Score!!

Now, Max has been sleeping 30 minutos or so during siesta, but get his padre next to him and it was a full hour or longer. Wowzers...he was pooped!!And Poppa too...ja ja ja.

Post siesta, Max was into the cocina to cook con su madre, and then after comida and clean up, off they went.

I drove to el gimnasio and pit stopped to buy Max another size 6 playera as his smedium 4's are a little snug. We grabbed 2 this morning for the grand price of $60 pesos and then bought the one this afternoon for $40 pesos. ¿Por que? I asked the señora and she told me the marca, brand, was a better quality. Ya...and you also thought I was a gringo!!!

Post gym I spotted the familia leaving, had a chat con mi hijo and then upstairs I went, and that is where we started the update.

Currently 505pm and the familia has returned with Max excitedly spitting out 100 words and the ones I understood were "mud, bus driver and 2 pesos"...but he was excited!!

He lays on the couch watching some Bernstein Bears before dinner and madre is so domesticated...folding the laundry!!

Ok, onto the fotos and then time to cook la cena.

Max showing Pudge where Poppa has applied the skin cream on his rash.

Check out the mane on this lil'tigre!!

We have brought Pedro Pollo with us on this prowl as protection. Pedro will squawk at everyone we pass, and this will prevent them from touching him...and it worked...100 times over!!

Poppa...looks a little wet. Did you bring the paraguas?

Hector...are you down there?

I was walking backwards so I could take fotos of Max...so Max turned around and started walking backwards. Oh Max!!

But then he spotted "people" and came a running!!

With Pedro Pollo leading the way, Max chases and Pedro squawks at the camion de carga driving by.

And the puddle series of fotos you have all been waiting for!!

Here, Max shows me where he hurt his leg when he fell by this poste a few days ago.

Max Van y Pedro Pollo...ready to start dancing!!

So "stinking hot" we needed a pit stop.

Max looked at the VW van and asked me to show him where "Max y Momma" were in the foto of the waterslides.

Ok...time to cook. See you after tina time.

Hasta pronto.

Buenos tardes!! It is currently 640pm and I have moved Max's cuna into the center of the living room and he is on a time out until 7pm. Then it will be off to tina time, leche y libros (maybe) and hopefully bed time.

Why this time out? It has been a rough day for discipline and it doesn't seem to be making an impact...argh.

Let's add it up...loss of post cena bici time, loss of a truck for the day, loss of visiting the zocalo on the post cena prowl...and now complete loss of the prowl. Friggin disappointing as we all enjoy ending the day with the nice tour or prowl. Argh...time to do some online reading...there has to be a solution to this...I hate this part of being a padre.

Oh...the cuna has moved and he is now in the corner...losing one basket of toys at a time due to not looking in the corner.

Into the tina...pray for us. And finally the tears have arrived...the consequences of his actions have finally sunk in. Wow...what a spirited niño.

As for la cena...oh so yummy and other then pounding on his dinner tray, dinner was good. Max ate his plateful and was somewhat friendly with Oma y Opa during FT, then onto a video and clean up and that was the end of our civil dinner.

Mañana...hoping for a dry morning so we can go for a bici ride and then after that, we can give Max his toys back.

Have a great domingo y hasta mañana.
