Buenos noches all. Wednesday evening 835pm and mis padres and I are sitting on the couch…keeping Max calm…and watching the mind numbing TV show Survivor. I love that mis padres like this show…but I am starting to worry about their tv content!! Ja ja ja

Busy day again. Lots done…all the photocopying done, picked up Max’s RESP info, hit the gym, a good pit stop at Nissan to talk with my service advisor Mike and then off to the Stupid Store where I was accosted when I left the store. Ok…not accosted but surprised to see Bexico roll by on her roller blades!!

Max has had his gas fussies…but currently is sleeping away on abuela’s arms. Earlier, the baby whisperer had to put him in the Super Bubba Swaddle…and he went to sleep in seconds!!

Bexico news…

Bex has been hired!! And the exercise guy who used another animator while Bex has been off…does not like the work ethic of this animator and asked Bex if she can come back to work!! So we will work on our schedules to ensure she has the time needed to spend on her projects. What? Have to spend time with my son Max? Ok!!! Ja ja ja

Taking the bus to Whistler in the morning. I get to sleep on the way up and will board the day with my sun lenses as it is supposed to be a Blue Bird Day!! Looking forward to Melon coming up and then some suds and a good day of boarding on his birthday, which is Friday.

Talking about cumpleaños…Happy Birthday to RJ whose birthday in mañana!!

Fotos.

The expressionist series. Max's that is.

And these were taken by Bexico using the Pentax. They are from a walk we took at the end of October….pre-Max.

And the last foto of the day...Max saying "ok padre Bubba...enough fotos!!"

Ok gang…have a great Thursday.

Tuesday November 29, 2011

And onto Tuesday!!

425pm and I am about to head out with Max and say hola to mi amigo Stuart. Max has been awake most of the day…lots of grunting if you know what I mean. And just like ayer, he is now asleep and I will have to wake him as we move him to the camioneta.

I am sure he will sleep through the short drive and during the time I spend with Stu. Then I will bring him home, lay him out to sleep and eat la cena con mi novia!! Hello to Butterball turkey ring.

Talking about camioneta…after a looooong search, the tire hunt is over.  Here is what we landed on.

double click here:

Not quite a summer tire, but it has a long life rating and that is one of my major goals. Boys at Burnaby (Morrey) Nissan have worked hard on finding me a tire that lasts…and that fits the Frontier…and this is the one.

A good deal as well…$230 vs $255 at Crappy Tire and I also get a $70 rebate via Michelin. So I will bring the truck in on Saturday morning, get the new tires rimmed and balanced and also get the much needed alignment. All this will allow me to drive through Oregon or Washington without having to stop for tire install and finding a place for the alignment.

Good news is that the tire cost is almost the same in USA as here…very rare to find that.

More truck news? Loaded up on the Mexican insurance so we are covered for another year. Much better safe then sorry down there as it is often guilty until proven innocent with accidents and sometimes it is the person with the better insurance that will be found not at fault. Hello to Mexico!!

So we were up early this morning to see Dr Snip Snip and he says Max “the horse” Van looks great…everything healed as it should. Phew!!

Hey…gotta go. I will finish this when I get back.

Saludos

Buenos noches amigos.

8pm and I am back from an interesting time at East Side Marios in Lonsdale Quay. Two words…baaaaaad service. Proof? The top of our bill was signed “sorry+thanks”. Ja ja ja

Not allowed in the bar (with sports TV) with max, so Stuart and I sat in the dining room and promptly looked like a gay couple with their new son!! Lol

Especially when Stuart held Max and I held the bottle in Max’s mouth. Hilarious.

The ESM fotos.

Just Max chillin on the bench.

He was a great lil’hombre and then needed a change…no issue. Then a bottle…no issue. Then a fussy time…a quick walk outside the restaurant worked.

Our service? Yikes. Stu’s meal came with soup AND salad. “Which would you like?” was asked twice. I asked for a coffee cup to heat the bottle in and the reply was “do you want hot water in it?”. Ja ja ja

I don’t think I will go back there over the next 10 days!!

Here are the Max y Stuart fotos. He is a natural.

Something about being 12 years old and babysitting in Prince George for $1/hour!!

Misc fotos.

Max getting some zzzzz.

Ta-da…Max is official…he can pay taxes!!

Tonight while out, I used our small Pentax waterproof camera and found these on the card.

One VERY pregnant Bexico!!

Mañana? Very busy. RESP for Max, donate some baby clothes, Stupid Store to get some eats for when mis padres are over, Nissan to see if there is an problem with the truck (it looks like the rear right is sitting lower then the left) and Staples to get some foto copies for the trip home. Phew. Then at 2pm the landlord is dropping off a Shaw cable box, showing the condo to some possible tenants and then mis padres are arriving!!

Bex, Max and I are looking forward to our vacation!!

Misc…went and talked with a Notary Public about a consent letter. This is a letter that proves that one parent has allowed the other to travel with a child, without the other parent present. (make sense?) So we have been told to get one of these letters and get it notarized. When I talked to this lady, she said it was for Canadian Immigration…for when people return to Canada. She had never heard of an airline asking for it on a departing flight, especially a one way flight.

The Notary wants $65 for her stamp and we have decided to save the $$. We filled out the consent letter, had it witnessed by Stu (muchos gracias) and will attach a copy of my passport so there is verification of my name, foto and signature. Small gamble!! lol

Have a great Wednesday!!

Monday November 28, 2011

Howdy all….late update for Monday November 28, 2011

Had a great day…long but fun.

Why does the passport office advertise express service if it is not available? Due to the fact that Bex y Max are not flying out in 3 days…and due to the fact it is Max’s first passport, the earliest we can get his passport is December 12. Yikes…they are flying on the 14th…cutting it kinda close.

Good thing we went down on Monday. Well actually Bex y Max went while I was at TD talking mutual funds and investing with Lucia…a great help. She is good at what she does and as she was out fotocopying my drivers license…the branch manager even came in to say hola and see if there was anything she could assist with. I said “global economy” and she said she would try.

Lucia said there was a cold going around the branch..wash my hands before touching Max. I mention the cold to her manager and she tells me she hasn’t had a cold or the flu…in 24 years!! Wow.

Hit the gym and Bexico y Max took a walk. They met me in the gym and we showed off Max to a few more of his MANY admirers!!

Came home and spent some time polishing the headlight lens…wow does this stuff work!!!

double click here:

And then replaced the light bulbs too…and what a difference when we went out last night. Due to the time of year…it will be darker later into the morning and earlier at night…so good to have this all done before I hit the road.

So Max the gas man has been struggling and we are trying everything we have read and been told by friends, the internet and our midwives. Poor guy isn’t always getting the best sleep…so he fell asleep around 330pm…and we had to wake him to get him bathed and ready for our shin dig.

The good news? He slept through most of the night, even with 15 peeps chatting it up and wanting to see the lil’hombre.

As for Romer's and our shin dig?

It was great food and service and we were happy to see as many people as managed to come out. What we thought would be 2 hours max (get it…max?) turned into 3.5 hours as we were having a great time catching up with our amigos.

And to top it off…JR and the team at Romer's picked up our tab!! Mucho grassy ass amigos.

Kirsty, new mom extraordinaire, told us about her hijo having gas and she used Ovol and it worked wonders. Hello 24 hour Shoppers Drug Mart on the way home!! Seems to work for Max…less red faces from grunting. Lol

You might recall Kirsty was the one who set us onto saran wrapping the nipples. Ja ja ja

Here is Kirsty, Max y Bexico.

A big thank you for all that managed to show up as well as to those that gave us cards or a gift for Max!!

Home around 10pm and I was pooped. I hit the sack at 11pm…up at 530am for relief duty as Max just couldn’t get back to sleep after his 4am feeding.

That, mis amigos, was our Monday. Come back son to read about our exciting Tuesday.

saludos

Sunday November 27, 2011

Max and madre had a great sleep in the spare room. Bexico had gone to sleep in our spare bedroom and came out in a sleep walking state…mumbling something about flashing lights. Turns out there was a police car, with it’s lights on, below the bedroom window.

Anyway…Max was zzz in the spare room. He had been so well behaved at dinner and had a little fuss on the way home, and then actually fell asleep very fast.

So I asked a sleep walking Bex if she wanted to sleep with her son, got the head nod, and tucked them in together.

Now would I go to sleep and get some good rest? Given the opportunity I should have…but alas I got sucked into some cheesy movie and spent some time writing Christmas cards. So…2am to 830am and now I am on the couch watching some football…and that darn movie is on again!! I could have gotten a great night sleep…and watched the movie today!!! Ja ja ja

Plan? NFL…maybe the Grey Cup, Stupid Store (for the trip south…another blue bin to pack up niño gear), Crappy Tire for a windshield wiper and some head light bulbs…and then probably some zzzzs with my lil’hombre!!

Meanwhile I will sort through the 110 fotos taken yesterday and so far today.

Fotos.

Here are the rest of the Arnold y Max fotos.

Sleeping Max

And here is Max wondering what his tonto (silly) padre has done to him

640pm…the team is asleep…or so I think. I better check. Good thing I checked. Max pretended to sleep... until Bex joined him for a nap and then he decided sleep was over and it was time to hang with his padre.

7pm and congrats to the BC Lions…Grey Cup Champions!!

So today was a tranquilo day. We did a walk to the Tire and Bexico had Max in the Bjorn. That thing is great…and comfy too. The rain ended mid-day and we had some good weather for our short walk.

And what kind of loot did we buy at the Tire? One windshield wiper….because it only needs to get me to Huatulco…where it will melt by next summer. Also bought a polish that will be used on the headlight covers. They are greyed over and this polish will make them clear again.

Along with the clear lens, we will now have brighter bulbs to go with it. Good to get those as on the way home I will be doing more driving in the dark then I did on the way here.

Pit stop at Timmys to get Bexico a muffin and then I went to the Stupid Store alone. The store was crazy!! Picked up a few items including the 4th Rubbermaid storage box. Yikes. It is going to be one full load!!

Grabbed some travel insurance for the ride home and once back in the condo, managed to book my Motel 6 for the 3 nights I will be spending in the USA.

Dinner at 830pm or so and then must hit the hay early. No nap for me today and we have another full day mañana.

TD Bank, passport oficina, el gimnasio and at 6pm we have the big shin dig at Romer’s Burger Bar.

Have a great Monday everyone.

Saturday November 26, 2011

Wow…what a great night of sleeping!! Bexico hit the hay at 11pm or so and by 1130pm Max and I were asleep in the other room and then 6am he needed some leche and then we all slept again until 9am.

And he slept a lot during the day too?

11am and I am getting ready to head downtown, drop off the board and hit the gym. A wax and sharpen will have the board ready for Thursday and pick up is on Tuesday.

Talk about cutting it close…I ordered the satellite dish and HDPVR. Another delivery to Port Moody and this one is 5-10 days…and I leave in 12. Phew. Come December, Max and I will be watching some great football games on our big Sony TV!!

Hey…930pm and we are back from a great dinner at The Keg. RJ picked up the tab…I picked up the tax!! Ja ja ja Thanks for dinner RJ!!

And for the second night in a row…I did not wear shorts!! Since January 2011, this is the 3rd time…I was hoping to make it to Whistler before pants were needed. Lol

Bex took the family to the Quay and then they hung out with Max and then off to dinner.

I managed to get the snowboard into the shop…but barely as the Grey Cup traffic was crazy. Roads closed, crazy traffic etc meant mine time at the gym was short too. Oh well…there is always Monday.

I watched Max sleep while the family was out, and then it was off to Coquitlam to see mi amigo Melon and to get him to sign Max’s passport paperwork. Nice to see my niece at the MS…she is one of the senior hosts at the restaurant.

Kent and I are set up for Whistler…hotel booked and it is dumping snow!! 274 cm so far, 36cm in the past 48 hours with projections of 70-90cm tonight and 45-60cm on Sunday!!! Looks like a quieter week (in terms of snow), but I am sure we will have enough for a few great days of boarding.

Here are some fotos sent to me by mi hermana. They are from the family dinner we had a week ago.

Mi hermana y Max.

 Chubby and double chin.

I was talking about both of us!! Ja ja ja

Nicole and Sox

It does not matter how they dress…as long as the food tastes good!! And it always does!!

That was mi hermano…Iron Chef Olen.

Kennedy and her cousin.

Max having his first glass of wine…Yellow Label Cab Sauv.

Hey…that was not seriously happening.

And last but not least…an old foto of a photo.

Taken in maybe 1994 or 1995…that is mi hermano, mi Oom Kees (uncle) and yours truly.

Mañana I will have the last of the Arnold y Max fotos…stay tuned.

That is all mis amigos. Stupid Store mañana and starting to wind up our stay here in Vancouver.

Hey Liz…thanks for the great play gym for Max!!

Hasta mañana.
