Buenos tardes amigos. It is 625pm and the sun is still shining!! And since it is not yet dark out…we are at Buenos tardes vs buenos noches.

Internet update….it seems to be better today, but that is no thanks to Telmex. Ayer we went into the “secreto” Telmex settings and tried to reset our IP to the one that had been working better. Well, that did not work and we ended up with a 3rd IP address and it seems to be ok.

Bexico and myself tried to call Telmex, but could not get through. So I sent them an email, and here it is:

Domingo no teníamos internet y llamamos a Telmex.

And here is their reply:

Long and short? Thanks, but you need to call us to look into your problem!! At the same number that we had no success with!!! Ja ja ja

Welcome to Mexico and to a company owned by the world’s richest hombre…Carlos Slim.

So…ayer? I was sick and it still lingers. A classmate told me a stomach bug is going around…argh. You can only try so hard to stay foodsafe…scarier if you are embarazada…pregger. But oh well.

My day was tranquilo…no clase o gimnasio…argh. But I did manage to get some alberca time in and after la cena…it was off to watch the boys play rapido. It was fun!!

Rapido is 6 aside soccer, played in what looks like a slightly small hockey rink, sin hielo (without ice). There are some large walls around the nets and you can play the ball off those walls and off the boards, but if the ball goes into the fence above any wall or board, you lose possession.

This is a foto of the campo…and it shows my limited ability in taking night time fotos without being blurry.

Number 7 is Daniel.

Five guys plus a goalie means lots of running and it is fast…thus it is called rapido.

It is Sergio’s equipo (team) but he cannot play due to his recent surgery. Both Daniel y Moises play on the equipo and Daniel ended up marcar un gol and Moises dos. Final score? 5-2 for the good guys!!

This was a semi final game and now they head to the championship on viernes.

As for being the only non-local in the stands, it was a blast. Mom’s are yelling at their hijos and players on the other teams, the players are blasting referees and I spent my hora talking with Samuel…who speaks no ingles.

Try asking Samuel what in español a goalie is called (portero), a referee (árbitro), a soccer ball (bálon), a penalty (pena/multa) etc. But he is a patient kid and enjoys answering the questions.

There was no drinking in the stands…I was sure the cervezas would be flowing, but Sergio tells me that the championship game will be a standing room only event and that it might get rowdy!! Ja ja ja

So that was my martes. Bexico went to clase by herself and brought home all the notes!! Then she was off to work in her oficina and worked all night too…missing the rapido…but will come to the partido (match) on viernes.

As for our miercoles…3 horas en clase…yikes. But it wasn’t too bad and we got to practice the past tense verbos. My master plan is to learn all the yo (I) and nosotros (us) conjugations because those are the forms I will use more often. And to narrow it down, I will pick the verbos I will use most often. I can then go back and learn the tu, el/ella/usted and ellos/ellas/ustedes conjugations.

Clase has review, new topics, videos, listening and writing sections, so it is varied. Mañana we will practice how to pronounce and accent palabras (many rules on how to pronounce the syllables) and then from 1-2pm it will be la comida with a local…time to practice what we have learned.

Despues de clase it was home and Bexico did her ejercico and then hit the oficina, while I went to the gym, had a quick stroll through town and picked up some pollo.

El gimnasio was tranquilo y tenía de bajo energia…low energy. Still fighting the bug, but great to get out. Rosa has 2 more days until vacation and we still do not know who is working while she is away!! Ja ja ja

Grabbed the pollo from our new spot and it has already gone up in price from $55 pesos, to $60 and now $70. Great pollo, but not sure if it is worth $70 pesos…especially when two rib eyes only cost us $75 pesos!!

Stopped in to say felicidades to the boys and we chatted up the game as well as the proximo partido (next game).

Took the pollo home, cut it up while it was warm and then we had alberca time. And that takes us to 715pm and we are about to eat la cena.

Fotos for the day.

Compliments of mi amigo LJB…here is a before and after of the painting centre ice for an arena. They are laying the ice and doing all the painting while getting ready for summer hockey season…hola Canada!!

Esta noche no pelicua as the reviews are malo for Pase Libre con Owen Wilson y El Dilema con Vince Vaughn. But this pelicula is coming soon and it looks fun!!

Los Pitufos!!!

Un hombre muy trabajador.

Hard working hombre. Can you imagine cycling this around town?

I am sure they are just following orders.

But these Fonatur guys are filling in the HUGE pothole with a mix of used asphalt and sand. We will see them again after the next big rain.

And we will see these hombres again too.

How many peeps do you count on this 150cc moto?

And that’s all. Have a great jueves everybody.

Marco y Bexico
