Buenos noches all.
Feliz cumpleaños al padre de Bexico…Roly!!
915pm here in Huatulco. We are home safe and sound!! It was another long day but overall it was incident free.
We were on the road at 630am and found our way out of the city without getting lost!! Not bad because the signage is always an area of opportunity!! As for speed? Not much!! In the first two hours we averaged 42 km/hr, the next two hours it jumped to 62 km/hr and then it dropped back to 45 km/hr for hours 5 and 6.
We stopped in Puerto Escondido for some lunch and then made the last 100 km in 2 hours…for roughly a 9 hour day on the road!!
Bexico did much better on the return trip…phew as she is still not 100% (but close) from the other stuff she had going on.
We did hit 3 checkpoints on the way back and we were searched at each one. I know the fact that we speak some español and that we actually talk to the soldiers (machine guns and all), helps us through these inspections.
We had super polite soldiers, one that complimented Bexico for speaking español even though he spoke ingles (and did not know where Canada was…he saw the BC plates and thought we were from Columbia…not a good place to be from driving through a drogas checkpoint!!)) and we also had one soldier gives us felicidades (congrats) for the níno!! They all laugh at the “hecho in Mexico” line.
UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
930pm and the Nucks have finally beaten Thomas and scored a goal!! The game is 1-0 Nucks and there are 14 minutes left in game 5. And the pictures from downtown Vancouver are CRAZY!! They have set up large screens downtown and there are 10’s of thousands of peeps (TV says 100,000) watching the game outside the arena.
10pm update and the Nucks won!! What a great game!!
Lunes 7pm…watching it on the big screen at home!! Yup…the cables worked. We have video on the TV, but no audio yet. Need another cable for that. Picture is crisp…not bad!!
At first I could not get the picture, but YouTube came to the rescue as someone must have been REALLY bored one day and videotaped how to connect a MacBook to a HDMI TV. Ja ja ja
Did I tell you we found internet cables in the hotel room? And then found an outlet with a cover that was spring loaded so we could not see it was a USB outlet? Lol
Back to our day…
Came home and unloaded the truck in sweltering heat, then it was off to Che for a roti and some quick supplies.
That was followed by alberca time, organization time and then hockey and la cena time.
I do want to mention that we saw some beautiful scenery on the drive home. I recommend the drive to Acapulco…should be done once!! Ja ja ja
Still an issue with some communities not having the care, money or know how on keeping their portion of the highway free of litter. Some places were just terrible, while other communities have put out recycling bins etc on the road side…anything to help combat the maleducado…the uneducated.
Misc foto.
License plate seen in Acapulco.
Long drive for them as well.
Misc “stuff”.
We just received our last 2 months electric bill and it was not as bad as I had feared for such a hot and humido time of year. Two months, $2200 pesos…$193 Cdn. Lots of a/c mi amigos!!
And at the correo de post? A libro that madre de Bexico, RJ, had ordered for her online. It was sent from the USA on April 15 and arrived in Huatulco June 4. Now that is speedy!!
Our sábado? I am off to the gym…no matter what. Then a hola to Daniel, pay the electric bill and head to Elektra to buy our washer/dryer. Hopefully we can either order on on line or the floor model is still available.
Bexico has some nibbles on some work and she has been given the go ahead for the next steps on the Ottawa contract. So she will be busy as well.
Nascar is domingo and you know where we will be on lunes at 7pm!!
Buen fin de semana amigos.
Marco y Bexico
