Hola everyone!!

So the big talk around town has been about the tropical storm that we experienced for the past two days.

Here is today’s weather looking up to the montañas.

But here is what we experienced in the centro, until at least 3pm.

A few nube, but mainly nice, sunny and warm!! Perfect for alberca time…in a pool that was soooo full of water due to all the lluvia from the past 2 days.

As for the results of the storm, here are some fotos.

Tiles that came off of one of the condo buildings.

These little piles appeared on the sidewalks next to the drains.

I am sure Fonatur was out clearing away the drains.

Here is a flooded construction site.

And for the pothole fanatics.

Some of these are two feet long and a foot deep. Yesterday they were full of water, making driving even more peligroso (dangerous).

But with the sunny weather, things returned to normal.

That meant the return of the carpinteros.

As well as the mat and garlic hombre.

The sock hombre.

And the basket hombres.

This chorty seems to never leave the zocalo…maybe it’s his turf?

And with the sun returning, that meant some animals came out too.

From the cardio floor at the gym, here is Senor Iguana.

And from just down the stairs of our condo, Senor Gecko.

And of course…Gato Negro who seems to have weathered the storm with no apparent damage.

Here are the rest of the fotos from the day.

Updated foto of the camion de cemento.

Slow and steady progress!!

And here, at least padre has a helmet!!

Mind you níno does looked a bit (hee x3) uncomfortable.

And last but not least.

This is Moises on his way back to the joyería…jewelry store. The store has it’s own “rapido” soccer team and there is a game esta noche at 10pm.

As for the rest of our day…

Bexico and I cleaned the condo and then I was off to el gimnasio. And for the first time since we moved here…we had a new vacuum cleaner filter/bag!!! We had looked for new ones in Huatulco, Puerto Escondido, Salina Cruz and then Oaxaca before we finally found them in Acapulco.

Bexico split her time doing her ejercicio, talking to her Ottawa contract and then working in her oficina.

Great news from Ottawa as she has been given the go ahead to finish the animation of the monkey!!

As for the rest of her work, she is still waiting to hear from two contractors. She has already been paid for 50% for one of them, so she just waits. As for the other, she has not been paid yet and has not heard back either.

And then she heard from Paris France and has been asked to video another set of the drawings she has done. Great stuff all around!!

El gimnasio was busy as ayer no one left their homes…except for maybe Moses (in his ark). Great workout and a short chat with Rosa as she seemed pooped today.

As I was saying hola to Daniel (and a “¿trabajó usted ayer?”…did you work yesterday?), Mario from Copalita and the gym said hola to me! And then as I passed Elder, it was “su foto es listo mañana”…your foto is ready tomorrow.

UPDATE

We just Google translated the phrase “your foto is ready tomorrow” and it came back “su foto es mañana listo”…your foto is tomorrow ready….ARGH!! ja ja ja

Despues de gimnsaiso it was a walk through town, hola to Daniel and off to get Elder’s fotos printed. I also stopped in the w/d tienda where I had spoken to an hombre who spoke ingles. I told him a senorita had told me they could not get me the w/d and he laughed. He said that his “esposa” was often cranky!! Mucho siento was my response!! Ja ja ja

Turns out, this is the guy I also saw ayer at el gimnasio, with the Canucks bumper sticker. Anyway, he told me to give him the info and when Bexico and I went for a walk later, we did just that. He will give his supplier a call and we will see what happens.

Antes our walk, we had some sunny alberca time!! Nice and refreshing…the pool has never been so full or cool!!

Late foto entry.

Fresh off the camera...looks like Jackson is ready for his own alberca time!!

We started our walk by seeing if we could return my cerveza empties and pick up some new stock. We had not done this before and Lalo thought I would be stuck with the bottles and lose the $120 pesos I had paid for the deposit.

Well…it went off without a hitch. We were charged for one bottle that broke and picked up 12 Pacifico y 12 Negra Modelo for the grand price of $24 Cdn!! I love it…24 beers…$24.

Dropped those beers off at home and then off to see Carlos for a cocktail de camarón para mi novia. Negocio es mal for Carlos, and he might end up closing shop and moving to Puerto Escondido. Nice guy and he really enjoys talking both ingles y español with us.

We purchased some more papel for Bexico’s Paris contract, dropped off the w/d info and then said hola (otra vez…again) to Daniel.

And of course we said hola to Roberto next door and at their new tienda (Sergio’s old one), his esposa waved and giggled as I pointed to conejito!! This town is full of friendly peeps!!

Verdura run and the sign has been reinstalled!!

Home for ensaladas, some web browsing, la cena (meatballs) and now blog updating. Bexico is back in her oficina working hard!!

Our mañana? No extraordinary plans for us. Lots of work for Bexico, and we will plan Mojon around her work and the clima (weather). Maybe we will see a pelicula as it will be 2 for 1 miercoles!!

Misc Mexicoisms…

I asked Memo if you need a license to drive a car. Answer..sí. I asked if you needed to write or perform a test and the answer is no!! Duh….ja ja ja

A big reason Mexico’s economy is not at it’s best? I bet you ½ the businesses do not collect impuestos (taxes). Need renovations done? If you want a recibo (receipt), they tack on the 15% IVA. Want to have your baby delivered, $22,000 pesos mínimo…and if you want a recibo, tack on 15%. Etc.

Just some interesting facts about the country we are living in.

That is all for now. Hasta mañana amigos.
