Hola from Acapulco!!

If there was ever a time to be in a hotel that had not moved into the 20th century, thus has no internet in the room, thus we cannot stream the Bruins spanking the Canucks…today is the day!!

We will be looking for Papa Bobs sports bar for Wednesday’s game!!

10pm and the smell of left over ribs is wafting around the room as the machine has her late night feeding con conejito!! Ja ja ja

Loooong day for the both of us. Bexico was a trooper in the car, but there are several stretches of winding and curvy road and that played havoc on her stomach.

Bono the mono did his best to help though.

Long day for me as I have a cold and getting up at 515am was no treat. Not hating…just stating.

The drive? Left at 640am and made it just past Puerto Escondido by 825am….good drive time for the first 115km.

The total trip is 490k  mas o menos (more or less) and at 930am, we had now gone 180km and 310 left…averaging 60km/hr…yikes.

12 noon and we had 190 km to go…2.5 hours to go 120km…around 50km/hr.

330pm or so we pulled in and averaged around 55km/hr for the last couple of hours. It seemed faster, but we got stuck in some Acapulco traffic.

Great co-pilot work and we got into Acapulco, took one left and then another left and we could see our hotel.

We pulled in and low and behold, on our trip down in September we stopped at the Starbucks in front of this same hotel.

Starbucks today

Starbucks (in the background) in September as Bexico asks for some directions.

On the trip down, lots of the topes (speedbumps) and I will NEVER miss those if I never see them again. They were not friends of Bexico’s either. Only missed one or two…no damage!!

As for why you do not drive at night here? We had to swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid a mutt that was la-di-da’ing across the highway (one lane each direction…still a highway?) and another time we came upon dos burros eating grass on the side of the road…with their butts in the roadway!!

We did hit a few military checkpoints and at one the soldier saw our BC plates and that was the que for a full search. Super friendly soldier who was very polite (asking for permission to look in our luggage and then zipping them up for us when he was finished) and he was quite impressed with our español!!!

But how do you ensure a luggage check by the militar goes off without a hitch?

Pack your camo briefs so they are on top of the rest of your clothes!! True…both the soldier and I had a good laugh about that.

Overall, a nice drive to see things…bad for topes and motion sickness.

Our hotel is great minus the no internet in the rooms issue. Clean and updated.

Fotos from our balcony.

Not sure of the caption for this one?

Bungee and McD’s…both thrilling? We are tempted…but Bexico will NOT go on the bungee. Ja ja ja

We hung at the pool and then I had a siesta to try and knock out this cold. Then it was dinner time and we went looking for grub.

We passed this traffic circle driving in and now on our walk. Right before the circle is the Sam’s Club and a big tienda de grocery as well.

And it is always good to know where the Canadian Consulate is located.

Next to the Italian restaurante…hello!!

A nice walk as there is a strong viento from the oceano. We passed a little Mercado area and it seemed as they have been tourist starved as they all wanted us to look at their wares. No thanks…we have all that same stuff in Huatulco.

As for la cena, we settled on ribs for dinner and we ended up with good service and good ribs. The side dishes were not the best.

No sports bar :(

So we headed to the mall across the street from the restaurante and Bexico was already in heaven!! If I can find some lamps and a dryer vent at Home Depot, I will be thrilled. Ja ja ja

Last foto.

It is the walk (run) signal. It was at 55 seconds when we got to the intersection, and instead of a flashing hombre, here the hombre starts to go for a jog!! Lol

We hit up Oxxo (7-11) and scored some agua etc and two security guards mimicked our ingles and so I ribbed them a bit (hee x3) and we all laughed.

Back to the hotel and yes the internet in the lobby works fine for email, but as more and more people started using their laptops, the stream for the Canucks game just became slower and slower.

As for Lalo…I have tried calling twice and left a message the first time and to be honest….not sure what I was told the second time!! Ja ja ja.

11pm and Bexico has LOVED the fact that we booked a hotel with a tub…she is done soaking and is about to call Lalo!!

Me? A Neo Citron and hopefully feel better mañana as we have a big day!!

Hope to post this blog in the morning.

Saludos

Marco y Bexico
