Hola amigos. It is 2pm on miercoles and here I am updating the blog regarding ayer (yesterday). ¿Por que? Mi novia became very ill around 11pm last night and we spent the night taking care of her. She seems to have a double header as all the cheese in the “oh so yummy” quesadillas (read on) seemed to cause her some acid reflux…common with pregnant women.

And then just when we thought there was no more dinner “to-go”, she was hit with some illness caused by probably something she ate para desayunos o la comida….combined with the heat y humido. Poor girl.

Dehydrated meant I was making trips to Oxxo across the street and finally at 630am we called our doctor in Huatulco…waking both his espousa and himself up.

Heeding his advice, back to Oxxo for some Gatorade, but only 1 tablespoon every 5-10 minutes. Bexcio finally fell asleep and is still asleep. As for food, doctor requested veggies first, then some fruita and then some solids.

NO Pepto Bismal etc is allowed for pregnant women, which is too bad as that is my Mexican lifesaver.

Both Mom and conejito will be fine and when I am done here, I will order her a Chef salad from room service.

As for martes blog…read on.

Buenos tardes amigos!!

We never thought the Canucks would sweep the Bruins…but an 8-1 loss? We move on!! Mañana we are headed to Hooters Acapulco!! Hoping to find the hockey game on there…hee hee hee.

6pm and just getting a jump start on the blog.

We are in the hotel, fresh from alberca time and we are getting ready for date night. Wal Mart and then la cena!! Ja ja ja

Our day has been great…friggin hotter then Huatulco though…and the traffic? Wow. Acapulco gives “double parking” a whole new meaning.

We got up and Bexico did some laps as I nursed a Neo Citron hangover.

Here is our morning view of the playa.

We finally got a hold of Lalo and due to the cliff divers starting at 1pm, we agreed to meet at 11am. That meant we hit the road at 10am looking for desayunos.

We found our spot just down the road…and let’s just say it is low season.

Suffice it to say that we DID NOT have the buffet!!

And here is smiling Bexico eagerly waiting for her first feeding of the day.

We walked back to the hotel, grabbed our gear and met Lalo in the lobby. Picked up the camioneta and hit the road. First we went east and he gave us the tour of all the expensive restaurantes and such. We ended up at Wal Mart and along the way we saw the Colonel (secret herbs and spices), GNC (more secret ingredients), another Starbucks and a Office Depot…a grande papeleria!!

Knowing now where WM is, we decided to find our way to Sam’s Club and ensure we could shop there without a membership card. I am sure we could have figured out how to ask, but Lalo ended up getting us 3 one day passes!!

We were on a time line, but we took a 30 minute browse and were both excited about the things we saw. Hilarious to get excited about good quality towels after looking around Huatulco for them and knowing they did not exist in our small town!!

Then it came time to pay for parking and normally you pay when you pa for your goods. Since today we were only looking, confusion reigned when we exited the tienda looking for a machine to stick $$ into, only to find out we had to wait in a regular caja line up to pay the $3 pesos!! Ja ja ja

Got out of there and then it was time to find the divers. We took a side route and swerved to miss a few cars and taxis. Ended up seeing Home Depot and that is good as it is on our lista.

Traffic was horrible and after getting lost only once, and asking for directions, we got to the cliff divers at 1pm sharp.

And of course Lalo, also known as The Mayor, knew some peeps at the stop. $10 pesos for parking and $40 each to watch and here is what we saw.

The secret change room.

Where the divers put on the secret, "divers only" speedos…used to help limit wind drag on the climb up the cliffs.

Please click on the fotos to see them at full size. In this small format, it is dificile to see the divers against the cliffs.

These 8 fotos show the 6 divers and the first two completing their dives.

The next 6 fotos are of the 3rd diver.

Six fotos of the 4th diver.

Five fotos of the 5th diver.

The divers that dive from the very top, say a blessing here.

And these are fotos of the 6th and last diver of the day. Tough to see him, but he is doing a back flip off the very top rock ledge.

And I took this foto of a photographer because he is using a 50 year old camera for his shots. Gotta love old school…no room for mistakes!!

Despues de cliff divers, we took Lalo out for lunch. Try to find parking? Good luck. But if you find just the right part of town, you can find a hombre that watches your camioneta

We actually found a real parking spot, but ended up paying the hombre $20 pesos to make sure he had the car keys of anyone who parked behind us!!

We went to one of Lalo’s favorite restaurnate. It is the restaurnate in the department store, Sanborns. And of course this restaurante is full of the same type of people you would find in the restaurante in The Bay, Sear etc. We were the youngest by 30 years!! Ja ja ja

And of course Sanborns is right next to Woolworths….and their buffet. Only in Mexico!!

630pm…off to the Mart…more later.

Saludos.

Buenos noches all!!

1025pm and we are chill’laxin in our hotel. What a shopping trip!! We spent $4300 pesos!! And what did the haul include for $365 Cdn?

Cuna, sabanas for our colchone, some ropa for Mom, some food we cannot find in Huatulco and other misc items. Happy that we have the crib as that was one of the major items we wanted to knock off the list.

The Wal Mart is quite big, but still stocked like a Mexican tienda. If most Mexicans do not use it, you may find only one brand or one style. But there is some affluence in Acapulco so you also see some big ticket items for sale as well.

We left the Mart at 830pm and it was time for la cena. We found the sports bar that was recommended to us by Oliver…my new friend from Texas. Menu looked good but we smelt smoke. We asked the question and was surprised to hear that they allow smoking in the restaurante. Adios.

Walked up to California something or other and it’s menu looked lame so we decided to head to Hard Rock. But before we got to the truck, we decided to look at one of the world famous sidewalk taco stands.

This one was more of an covered restaurante..no walls, but it had quite a few peeps there…always a  good sign.

Looked at la carta and the menu appealed to us so in we went. $225 pesos later we had 2 quesadillas each as well as bebidas. The quaint quality of the restaurante? The 3 gatos running from table to table looking for scraps.

Came back to the condo and here we are.

On our list for Acapulco? Still some ropa (clothes) for Bexico, a run to Sam’s Club for some items we saw there, and then Home Depot for some light fixtures if possible.

And we still have two full days to go!!

Mañana? I hope I am well enough for a session at the gym and Bexico is going to hit one mall by herself. We will hook up after that and check out one or two of the other malls that Lalo pointed out to us.

And don’t forget…Canucks at 7pm!!

Have a great miercoles all!!

Bubba y Bexico
