Here is the martes, el 24 de enero blog entry and after that will be the entry for hoy...today.

Buenos noches mis amigos!!

7pm and it is pitch black…power outage!! Max is almost asleep…sin ventilador, so we have him next to an ice pack. If it keeps up too long, we will move him outside where it is cooler.

The oven is gas…so la cena is still cooking…but with no ventilador, it is HOT in here. So…one tall glass of agua in one hand, and one cold crown in the other!!

If this keeps up for 2 hours…I am outta here to buy some hielo, or rick losing all the food in the fridge y freezer. Must follow the ol MS power outage plan!! Ja ja ja

Blanca, the Buddhist, has no problem seeing….hello 1000 candles in her condo!!

No power and since I awoke this morning…no internet.

Current plan is for Bexico to eat dinner and then head to an internet café to check on her work emails. She will also post a 411 on the blog and you will probably read this update mañana.

Too bad as there are a ton of Max fotos to follow.

Our day?

Max was up at 5am (sopressa!!) and managed to grab a cat nap on my chest for 30 minutes before we went in and woke madre up at 9am.

Positive news is that Bex managed to get him to fall asleep for 2 naps during the day, and is working her magic as I type.

Here is how I found the two of them twice today!! Once when I came home from el gimnasio, and once when I came home from Nissan y Che!! How lucky for the two of them!!

Best to get him to nap where ever possible or else he looks like this...Pudgy Grumps.

Bexico did manage a few laps at the pool, but it was really a Max day for her. And then tonite some trabajo…work.

Max too managed some pool time. Dude is known by name down there!! And of course they all love his gafas.

My day…el gimnasio and then a pit stop at Pepe’s, another hardware and misc store. Good to see some hotel safes for sale (on the to-buy list for Mojon) as well as some good plumbing fixtures and the like. Muy caro, but at least they have them.

When the time comes, we will probably make the drive to Acapulco o Oaxaca and hit up the Home Depot there.

Home and then off to Nissan with my clutch fan assembly. I did not realize it was just a small assembly, not the complete fan. Any way, guess who is on vacation after being off work for 4 months with an injury? Yup…Tony is away until proxima semana.

Carlo’s solution? Javi…Javiar. Except Javi has never changed a clutch fan assembly. Doph. Carlos proceeds to tell me about the warranty on workmanship AND how they can set up the lap top in the garage so a mecanico in Oaxaca can watch and give Javi tips if need be.

Ahhhh…no. I was clear with Carlos that I like Javi and that he has done good work on other items, but I do not want mi camioneta to be the first truck he changes a clutch fan assembly on!!

He understood…or here’s hoping, and I will bring the truck back next week.

UPDATE….725pm and the power is still out. I heard some peeps talking and it sounds like a car hit and knocked down a pole somewhere.

Bedroom is cool…kitchen/living room is a mini furnace!!

Back to the day.

So Carlos and I chatted up life for a while. A smart guy and a nice guy. He has even gone as far as setting up Google translate so we can discuss more things!!

Such as where he can buy big a** tires for his 10 year old US imported car. Doph. And if he likes futbol Americano and if he wants to watch the Superbowl together.

Meanwhile, Crazy Pablo the groundskeeper keeps popping in to say some joke in español. Good thing I know all about the chorizo, the papaya y the Super Man…mandilong!!!

Off to Che and no ah-ha’s there. Didn’t buy any DC…bad move in this heat!! Ja ja ja.

Home and then we had the pool time and you are caught up.

Fotos from the walk.

This airline advertised by this truck, has not been in service for 4 years!!

Meow

Something you don't see every day. A front end loader IN a dump truck.

Elder was correct...the camino was open!!

Body bags? Nope...bags of grass clippings.

I thought the Tamarindo was pulling the moto over.

Nope, he was grabbing a newspaper!!

And we thought our hands were full with one!!

Two of 6 kids in the back of this taxi.

Huatulco has it's own set of problems...some of them due to muy barrato cerveza!! Wonder what the pigeon is up to?

Sensational colors at the price of white paint.

And the rest of the Max fotos.

These are "cama" (bed) series. I was in charge of Max, trying to get him to nap around 4pm. Uh...didn't work.

And after some horse play in bed, off to his conejito rocker. Check out that grin!!

And true to Max's form...his feet are sticking out. Just like how padre Bubba likes to sleep!!

930pm UPDATE

Bexico went out to try and use the internet and it seems the internetJa ja ja…but not really.

Bexico lugged 3 bags of ice and we have done what we can, but rumor has it the power will not be turned on until mañana. Of course I went grocery shopping today!! Might invest in a small generator. 20/20 hindsight.

Hasta mañana…maybe!!!

And now onto the entry for miercoles, el 25 de enero de 2012

Buenos noches mis amigos!!

Via mi padre…SURFING not only on Vancouver Island (there is lots up norte), but this is close to Victoria. Note the suit!!

Ok…the big story was the electricity (or lack of) situation.

We had an ok night…Max slept most of it and Bex and managed to sleep without the ventilador. At night there is almost no breeze, so it was warm until 3 or 4am when it dropped to the lowest temperatures of the day, 24 grados.

No power when we woke up, no power when I went out to el gimnasio and that almost led me back to Pepe’s to buy a small generator for the fridge y modem.

Fotos:

I thought this might be part of the solution to the power outage.

But it turns out to be MegaCable just cleaning up and adding a main TV cable.

Ahhhh good thing they are cleaning up some of their lines. Weak signal anyone?

I had heard the problem was near the Pemex gasolinera, so on the way home from el gimnasio, I took a different route to see if I could find out what was going on.

As I approached Pemex, I did see some CFE trucks.

But no peeps and the traffic lights being out was not a good sign.

But only minutes later I saw this. Note the 3 poles laying on the ground in the lower left of the foto.

It looked to me like 2 hombres throwing the switch on a power pole.

When I got to our gate, Silverio said power was not back…argh. But as I got to the last step before the tercer piso (3rd floor), I saw our ceiling ventilador moving!!! Power had been restored!!

I had stopped at an internet café on the way to el gimnasio and confirmed that ayer they had no service and today they did, so I was also happy to see our modem had all the proper lights lit.

Almost 2pm and we had both power and internet!! No internet for a full 30 hours and no power for 19 hours.

So as the fridge started to cool down, we started putting it’s items back in proper places and tossing out the cubitos that Bexico had bought the night before. And what items were the coldest still? Hello…anything that had been kept in that little portable cooler I had bought at Crappy Tire!!!

That thing (click HERE) has lasted 18,000 km, numerous trips to Mojon and now it’s first major power outage!!

And from what I hear about the power outage, a large truck took out a pole on Blvd Chahue, a 100 meters past the back of the condo complex. When that pole came down, it took down 2 other poles, and that left many buildings along Chahue (and our condo) with out power.

Those would have been all 3 hospitals as well as the main Fonatur oficinas.

Interesting tid bit…I am told that CFE actually worked all night to get the new poles in the ground and to get all the wiring completed. I would have assumed (bad to assume) it would have taken a few days…so congrats to CFE and it’s team. Now if they could only do something about the VERY expensive electricity.

Here is a LINK to the CFE (Comisión Federal de Electricidad) website.

As for the internet outage, I have had no time to find out what happened. Anyone out there know?

As for the rest of our day….

Max slept until 7am or so and then the two of us hung out for a while. Then it was leche time and I passed him over to sleeping Bexico and I took a few more zzzz’s on the couch.

I guess the two of them had a few naps as well, and threw in some educational/play time too!!

My leche was frio so I had some granola as madre Bexico looked on. She is off the leche as a test to see if that helps Max. One day in and he seemed to have a much better day with his tummy, so we will see if it continues mañana.

Off to el gimnasio and here are the fotos from the walk.

Another condo in our complex is for sale.

Just a guy on a bici with a bolsa de naranjas.

WFSITBOTT?

Looks like dressers to me.

Up the street, the fishing pole hombre is back. This time with mecedoras.

Nice weather and a buen viento también.

This is new here in Huatulco. Good to see as I have an amigo with an autistic hijo and he says the more assistance the better.

Some niñas on the way home from escuela.

Car mats, windshield wipers etc...

Almohada anyone?

This niña was giving her hermano the gears as they waited for padre to buy some pescado.

Came home and it was Bex’s turn for the alberca as Max and I caught up on how his day had been.

Ok…those were really from ayer, yesterday. The bib? The kid drools like a pools worth!!

After a while, he asked me to take him to the pool and of course I obliged. Madre was doing pool races with a member of the HA and beating him too.

But all that racing stopped when Max arrived. He is the star of the pool area with many peeps who did not give us the time of day a year ago, are now on their best behaviour!! Ja ja ja

Max had his longest pool time yet, almost 15 minutes in the pool before his little lip quivered from being cold. In a few months we will be able to put sunscreen on him and then have him in the parts of the pool with sunlight and thus are warmer. But the great news is that he likes the water!!

Alberca fotos.

Madre y Max went up to the condo and I grabbed some sun and did few laps before I too called it a day.

Max and I hung out on the couch, chatting about the stock markets, while madre was up in her oficina doing what she does up there.

Contract update? She has one on the go with a very poor communicator (that frustrates her) who is based in NY but DID want to communicate to Bex that she was celebrating her 40th bday with amigas…for the next 3 days!! Huh?

There are a few other nibbles and she has a solid lead for an illustration(s) from a previous client. Stay tuned.

Max had a few naps today (great work madre) and was pooped, so after his bath and massage, he was lights out!!

That allowed us to eat la cena together. Hello cerdo pulpa con papas y elote!! Mañana? Meatballs!!

Managed to watch the news and while I update the blog, Bex is busy in her oficina.

Mañana? Roman is coming over at 10am to install the shower door, el gimnasio will call and then off to Mojon.

I did receive some FZ quotes from Roman as well, and will review them with him too.

Last fotos.

Max in/on his Baby Einstein Play Gym that his tía (aunt) Liz bought for him. Gracis Liz!!

Even if he is not showing it here...he did enjoy it...honest!!

Have a great jueves.

Marco, Bexico y Max
