Hola amigos.

915pm and I am typing this while our 13 pound niño sleeps on my chest. He finally went to sleep after the Bubba Super Swaddle calmed him down, but did not put him “out”.

I scooped him off the bed, put him on my chest while I sat on the couch…and he is zzzzzzz. Phew. But what about bath time?

Busy day and that meant Bexico had Max for most of the day and when that happens, we both ask ourselves...how could a single parent raise a niño? Ja ja ja

Max is GREAT…but as you parents out there know, it can be a 24 hour role if the lil’hombre decides not to sleep. His rationale? He does not want to miss a thing. He closes his eyes as they get heavy, then fights to keep them open with the look on his face of “what did I miss?”. Oh he will be a handful!!!

My day….el gimnasio first. A great work out and wow is it hot in there. It will take me a few weeks to get back into Huatulco shape….the ability to work out in a gym that has no a/c, no running ventiladors and whose temperature is close to 40!!

Then a walk through town and hola to all mis amigos. The good news from Daniel? He talked to a nurse he knows and got us a list of things we need prior to getting Max’s vaccinations.

A foto…infantile size…for his official file. A copy of his blood type test. And a copy of his birth certificate. Then we will arrange with Daniel to go to the health clinic and get the shot(s). Stay tuned.

Home for a pit stop and then off to R&H’s to drop off some mail we need sent to Canada y USA. Heidi is headed back to Portland on miercoles so we scored on this mail service!!! Gracias amiga y Feliz Cumpleaños.

Then off to Fonatur to put our papel y carton into recycling. Just down the street is Nissan and I stopped in to see about the clutch fan. Ok…here are the deets. It will come from USA and take 15 days…mas o menos…AND? And it will cost $600 Cdn. Huh? It is $200 or so in Canada and on line…I need to think about this.

If mis padres visit, they could bring one, or…I Have emailed Mike at Nissan to get the measurements and then I will see how much it would cost to DHL it to Huatulco. Stay tuned.

After Nissan…off to Che…diapers are 36 for around $140 pesos. That works out to be about 30 cents a diaper vs the 22 to 25 we were paying in Van. Now this is for Pampers and once Bexico comes with me to Che…we will look at some local brands.

No big scores today….would love to see some frozen bagels, mil isla dressing and cheddar cheese!!

Came home and we hit the pool for a short time. Lots of niñas playing and their beach ball kept coming close to Max in his bassinet, so we stayed only a short time, kicked a senorita out my floatie, showed off Max and his ojo azul and then up to the condo.

Walk time and we were very happy to be able to finally show Max to Daniel. Otro hombre who says he looks like me!! We chatted up the gang and they genuinely like to see us, Max and chat with us.

A walk around town with Max in the sling and on my chest facing out…hello attention getter!! We said hola to a bunch of peeps we do not know…all because of Max…making friends one Mexican at a time.

We took Max to meet Max from West Side Café and told him we would be in for lunch in the next week or so.

Then we grabbed a small frozen yogurt for Bexico and headed home.

Roman was due around 5pm…no show. Oh well…mañana as they say in Mexico!!

So I spent some 90 minutes putting the satellite dish together and all that needs to be done now is to have it mounted and pointed in the right direction. Hoping to get a break from Roman (or someone else), as I have already done the hard work…I think.

I also called Shaw earlier in the day and once we are all wired up, we call them back and they activate the system and then hello NFL…and The Good Wife…ja ja ja.

1015pm and we are interrupted by screams (yes screams) of “hey neighborhood….hey neighborhood”. Why? Our neighbor has a screen door with a latch on the outside of the door…and had somehow locked themselves inside!! Ja ja ja

So Bexico goes out and asks them to keep it down…hello sleeping niño…and then lets them out of their condo.

It is a crazy condo…and owner/tenant. We saw the condo before she moved in…brand new…never been lived in. Now it is PACKED with stuff and peeps are coming and going all the time.

We have been told that she is a Buddhist and today we heard many a chant coming from within. We also wake up to many mornings of incense wafting on the tercer piso…third floor.

Crazy times at Condo Pacifico.

Oh yeah...the new HOA Presidente? The cigar smoker!! Ja ja ja...but not really.

Funny time of the day? Daniel tells me that some Mexicans shave their niños heads so that the hair grows in thicker and quicker. I looked at Lalo (aka Ron Jeremy) and asked him if that is what his madre did to his chest. Daniel and I howled and Lalo said I owed him one of my 12 Noche Buena cerveza!!

Ok…fotos.

The foot series.

And the (continuing) sleeping Max series.

1030pm and he is in the identical position, but on the couch. We think it makes his tummy feel better with the added pressure of his own weight.

Fotos from around town.

This was an empty building. Now it is an empty gated building.

WFSITBOTT?

Hello!!! Pillows and comforters!!

There used to be dress store here...dresses for baptisms, confirmations and niñas 15th birthday parties...La Quinceañera

The weather we experienced today.

No helmets, no license plate and no concern about having the niño straddled over mom's leg!!

He bikes this cart around town all day long.

Cool....plain old cool.

Always peeps selling things outside their doors. Melon, papaya y tortilla.

This calle leads right to the gates of Condo Pacifico, 1 minute away. If you want fresh roasted Oaxacan coffee...this is the place to come. Nightly an hombre roasts fresh beans in the back of this truck and then sells them in a tienda on the same street. Smells great!!

And something that does make me sad.

It is the way of life for many niños in Mexico, you go to work selling things and try to help the family raise money. This lil'hombre was selling tortillas vs out playing with other lil'hombres.

And here are some from the work Roman and his guys did at Mojon.

Path cleared to the palapa.

Some fresh sand (arena) laid around the palapa.

This is where we park the camioneta...just across from our lot.

It looks like we are ready for a trip to Mojon on miercoles. And to assist you all when you come to visit and rent our villa…Mojon is pronounced Moe-hone (hone is like home but with an N).

And the last foto made it into the blog because I could not pass up the opportunity.

Spandex shorts and brown socks…you folks have the good view as the other side was a tube sock. Ja ja ja

Misc

Went to the ATM and took out $10,000 pesos. Today it cost us $771 Cdn and three months ago it was $830…there is that 6%. Wow.

Mañana? El gimnasio and our mesa should arrive at noon…ish if it is anything like regular Mexican time.

Roman will probably swing by as well. La cena is burritos (I have 5 containers of spice to get through) and on miercoles it is jambalaya and maybe noche de cine?

Have a great martes all.

Marco, Bexico y Max
