What a way to start the day!! A very large temblor…or was it a terremoto? There were a few smaller ones and then another big one. Our condo is built up to USA standards, so we are not worried, but it is quite the on going experience!!
Here is a blurb from tomzap.com:
Earthquakes are relatively common on the Oaxaca coast, which is near the juncture of three tectonic plates, the American, Caribbean, and the Cocos. The epicenters of more than half of Mexico's earthquakes lie in the region bound by Puerto Angel, Acapulco, and Oaxaca City, with the center of activity near Pochutla.
Over the day, we felt no less then 6 temblors, including one during la cena at rick and Heidi’s. The locals say the temblors are quite small...not the one we felt this morning!! But they say they get worried when they DON'T feel a temblor because then they worry that the big one is coming!!
Hit the gym and on the way and from a hundred yards away, I saw mi nuevo amigo Daniel wave hello to me.
Had a great workout and saw another amigo of mine…Finito/Francisco. He had a full dress shirt, slacks and dress shoes workout, so I asked Rosa about this and she did not have the answer…other then mucho tranquile. I asked if she thought he could use on of my extra shirts to workout in, but she was not sure. I am not sure and would never want to offend him.
Here is Logan and his gafas. His padre takes him around town on their scooter, while Logan wears this helmet and his goggles.
Not a bad town to be on assignment for these folks.
This man works in pairs.
I saw his compadre in the parked truck, full of mesas and drawers. His job is to load a few on his dolly and walk around town trying to sell what he can.
I stopped in at Gabriel’s on the way home and managed to see this fellow offering peeps a good night’s sleep.
A strange sight.
I think he is related to the truck in yesterday’s blog.
And last photo is one of the new workers at Gabriel’s. Sergio brings this hombre in to help during high season. He normally lives in Acapulco and is a friend of Sergio’s padre, Gabriel, who has now passed on.
I told him that with the white shoes he looked like Chi Chi Rodriguez the golfer, but he preferred Lee Trevino.
Went home for some alberca time. Here is a photo of the alberca, one I did not take.
We met Jay and Krista at 515pm and headed to la cena. We had a fun time, some great chat and la cena was great…fajitas and home made key lime pie, with key limes from their own yard!!
Manana is my meeting with Lanny at los diez de la manana (10am). Will hit the gym after that and then we are driving to Mojon to meet Jay and Krista for some surfing and body boarding. Bexico will get some tips, but more importantly, will try her new board for the fist time!!
The verb aprendistar is “to learn”. Worked with Rosa on this hoy (today).
That’s all folks.
Hasta luego.
