Buenos Noches!!

First things first…iPhoto is back up and running!! Apple needs to add some instrucciones to its new OS procedures. If you install a new OS, run a software update, as there might be updates just for the new OS. I did and there were for my new OS!!

The silicone job on the sink has worked…we are back up and running!!

Two photos to start the blog. With the eclipse anoche, I took some 150 photos and here are the best two.

Before the full eclipse.

During the full eclipse.

I sat outside in the dark and at around 2am I woke Bexico up so she too could see the event. It was great to see and the last time we had a lunar eclipse on the same day as the start of the Northern Winter Solstice, was some 450 years ago!!

Not a lot of sleep, but got up and cleaned the condo and then off to the gym. Had a good workout and spent some time talking with Rosa and her hijo who happened to be visiting the gimnasio.

Also found out that Ghimbeli is taking two weeks of vacaciones effective hoy. I asked Rosa about this and she rolled her eyes. Bottom line…machismo…because he is a man, the male boss gives him this time off. She had to work hard to get her 5 days off and is resigned to the fact that this is how things are.

I have not seen Daniel for the past two days…I hope it is not too late for him to get the photos he requested.

Here are some photos from my walk home via a visit with the boys.

Self explanatory.

What does this sign say?

Christian music and films

I really liked the look of this hombre.

He was carrying his tools and offering his services.

Then he saw this little nina and his smile widened.

This is a view down calle Bugumbilias towards Parque Central.

All this traffic is Navidad related. A lot of foreigners and Mexican tourists are in town.

And an addition to the “what’s for sale in the back of this truck?” series.

Coco frio. Cold coconut milk with the coconut for $15 pesos.

A hombre selling marionettes.

This hombre was selling fresh garlic and “herb”…nudge nudge wink wink.

You can buy almost anything from these travelling salespeople.

And another for the “w.f.s.i.t.b.o.t.t.” series.

Fresh cantaloupe.

Colorful piñatas de Navidad at the veggie store.

After getting home…it was alberca time. Had a nice chat with Shawn (resident, fellow Canadian....and not 90 years old!!) and we both recognized the fact that it only takes a dream and imagination to live here. And we also realized that being 30 years younger then most of the other peeps here, has its drawbacks. Lol

Went for a walk and here are some of those photos.

Bexcio sharing some gum with Silverio at the gate.

Sugar cane for sale at the veggie store. Not sure what it is used for…have not seen it for sale before.

Fonatur road crew searching for the source of the water. Note the lack of jack hammer.

Big-a!! radishes. Some were almost as big as a tennis ball.

A parrot that kept saying “hola”…hello.

A senora selling dried fish. The fan is to keep the flies away.

Daniel from Gabriel the Owl. He is asleep.

Chilangos (?)…not necessarily a good word to use. Notice the light skin tone.

These fair skinned Mexicans come from Mexico City and are here on vacation. The term chilango is used to describe people from the big city who seem to be above the rest of the Mexicans. Fair skin is looked at as sure sign of future success in life.

The periodico store…books and newspapers.

You can buy newspapers here that have waaaay too vivid photos of accidents and cartel violence. The harsher, the more newspapers sold.

Me waiting for Bexico to come out of the periodico store.

What does this sign say?

No walking on the grass and no tossing garbage.

This hombre is often seen by the steps to the church, selling his goods to the buses full of tourists that stop there.

Hombre de nieve.

Advertising for a popular sidewalk restaurant. Mainly locals eat there.

Five chico (small) pork soft shell tacos for $30 pesos…and two chico cerveza for $10 pesos.

Here the cook/server slicing some pork off the spit.

And here he is lobbing a piece of pina off the top of the spit.

And the last photo…a senora selling guitars for midgets!!

Great walk…tons of things to see when you have no set agenda.

La cena was pasta with a salsa made up of chorizo, pollo, cebollo y red pepper. We also had some of the fresh pan con mantaquilla…soooo good.

Long update….but the photo are there for all of you.

Manana? Gym and then Mojon!!

Have a great night y Miercoles!!

Hasta luego.
