Buenos noches from La Crucecita!! 8pm and the Great Food Truck Race (on TV) has just started. Three trucks left…and being Mexico, this could be a show from 2001…who knows? Ja ja ja

Busy day…lots of fotos. Keep reading.

We woke up early and waddled to the laboratory to have Bexico’s tests taken. Some things in Mexico are super inexpensive, paying for your own blood tests would not be one of those things. I am sure the locals go to IMSS or Salud and get the tests for free. For us? $640 pesos for the 3 or 4 tests…$54 Cdn or so. Pick up the results mañana and we see Dr. Carillo on  lunes.

Fotos from our 5 minute walk to the lab.

Colorful plasticos…but not so barrato…cheap. Some plastic items are, but then others are crazy caro…expensive. No rhyme or reason.

And for the 5th time this season.

Yup…repairing the bache in calle Bugambilia. Only 3 more weeks of rainy season!!

After coming back from the lab, I was off to Nissan…fingers crossed.

My part was not in, but Arturo (parts manager) jumped in the camioneta and went to the bus station to pick it up. Meanwhile Javier cleaned out my fuel line and installed the new filtro de gasolina.

Here is mi amigo (not compañero) Carlos, the service manager.

And here he is multi tasking in the garage.

He is a mecanio y engineer and is now the jefe of the mecanicos.

Here is Javier…all 4 feet of him!! Ja ja ja

And at the back of the shop?

A patron Saint…Guadalupe?

Just as Javier was finishing the gas line work, Arturo arrives with my part. Here is the old amortiguador (translates to buffer/absorber) and the new one (worth $1000 pesos).

And what are these?

The heads of the two broken bolts that had been used to fasten the old amortiguador to the truck frame. Where is the other part of the bolt? Still in the frame…ugh!!

No getting these pieces out, so off Carlos and I go to the industrial section of town. Plan? Get someone to weld a piece to the bolts so we can unscrew the remaining pieces.

His favorite welder was not open, so we stopped off at another place and it was decided that plan #1 would not work…or would be muy caro…expensive.

So plan #2? Weld the new piece to the frame!! Heck, the first one lasted 11 years so I figured no one would be trying to remove the new one before then.

Here is the welder and his assistant getting the truck ready.

It took almost an hour…cost $250…just over $20 Cdn. And all this time Carlos (hello…service manager/amigo) was there with me. He was headed to Chiapas at 1pm and was now running late, so I drove him to his banco and then off to Nissan.

Good news? I did not pay for ANY of the Nissan labour, and that includes some time spent on making the clutch pedal stop squeaking.

Phew…thank goodness!! Ja ja ja

And compliments of mi amigo Melon, here is a Nissan commercial.

NOT for young eyes.

After spending all that $$...came home to see we have our natural gas bill. Only $430 pesos for 2 months…a bit (hee x3) more then the last one, but still only $18 Cdn per month.

Long day with Nissan so I was getting home for a late start at el gimnasio. The weather had been overcast for most of the morning and the sun had come out and I when I came home, I could not find Bexico.

Ah ha!!

She’s a smart cookie. El sol? Hello alberca time!! And was there any sol when I hit the alberca at 5pm? Nope!! Ja ja ja

Anyway, she deserved the break as she had spent some time this morning packing up some kitchen items, getting ready for the big move.

Off to el gimnasio.

Saw this on our grounds…muy suspicious.

Nah…I am sure the gatos are fine!! Bromo malo…bad joke.

If you see this guy walking through town…

You know the truck that carries all these is around.

Just some niños.

And look at this muy intelligent Bon Ice hombre.

Hilarious.

Muebles anyone?

These hombres are carpinteros.

They are workers available for daily work, con (with) hand saw and all.

And from el gimnasio.

One of the famous ventanas.

The bricked up windows.

And their Día de Independencia decorations?

I think we had a pollo with mezcal, pavo (turkey) with a gun and some cerveza, a green chili pepper with a guitar, and I think that is maíz (corn) with tequila!!

Where will I be on 15 de septiembre? Hopefully celebrating with the locals in Monclova.

Check out wikipedia’s info on Monclova and look at those temperatures in enero y febrero.

New word of the day for you?

Arena (ah-ray-nah)…sand.

Three non local senoritas selling their hand bags and such.

One of them has a niño in the sling.

And this hombre was selling hand made door hooks.

Had a good workout and since I was there later then normal, had a chance to say hola to mi compañero, Yeu. He is good…excited about going to school to study languages. He told me that he will be able to speak French with Bexico when we return in diciembre!!

joyeria where I had the pleasure of meeting hijo y esposa de Daniel. Daniel Jr is a talker…but totally in español, which only humbles you when you realize you cannot keep up with a 5 year old!! Ja ja ja

But I have a way with niños and within minutes we had a conversation going…I told him his teacher was his girlfriend. That will make any 5 year old niño talk to you!! Ja ja ja

Also touched base with Moises y Samuel, our movers.

Here is Samuel…I was showing Moises y el hermano de Daniel how the camera works.

Had a good chat and headed home. I think the boys at the store will miss our chats and are looking forward to our return. Yo tambien…me too.

Solo pool time and then an iChat con mi hermana. Always good to catch up and stay in the loop. Hope to chat up mi otra hermana mañana.

Tranquilo evening…burritos para la cena and Bexico is busy working on some personal work (films and such) she wants to get completed.

Also managed to get a hold of the camionetas canopy installers and they are set for some minor repairs as I drive through Washington State in a 10 days or so. One more item off the list. Llantas are next.

Mañana? Fin de semana!! El gimnasio, the blood test results and hello Nascar at 630pm!!

Lets end the day with some gato fotos.

A face only a mother could love?

Nah…I love the character this gatito possesses.

Not sure if this is madre y hermano, but they were all in the same lote as scary gato.

And these 2 characters? Comfort for them seems to be the 3 inches between el gimnasio and the casa next door.

That’s all mis amigos!!

Buen fin de semana.

Marco y Bexico
