Viernes Noviembre 5, 2010 #2

Here is our second post of the day. Miss Bexico has updated you all on her on going work. Quite exciting and it will be oh so much easier once we get the internet at home!!

Welcome to Viernes!! Friday has arrived.

Will start today’s blog with some photos taken from around the zoloco (town square). We sat in the square last night while we posted the blog and checked our email and the day’s numbers.

Here is the restaurant, Blue, where I sometimes go to have a cerveza and use their wi-fi, and at other times I park my butt across the street or on the curb and use the wi-fi for free.

This is the bandstand at the center of the zoloco. We have not seen any bands play there, but the area around the bandstand is where all the locals hang out (young peeps, parents with their ninos…) on the weekend nights.

This is an example of a sign posted at a collectivo, clearly stating the fares that will be charged.

Here is one of the MANY paleterias where you buy the Mexican treat (frozen flavored water…a popsicle) for 5, 6 or 7 pesos, depending on flavor. Our favorite right now is still limon.

And we regularly see a few of these carts around town…no music though.

After we updated the blog we went and grabbed some fresh bread for oil & vinegar dipping and then off to see if Lalo could talk to our Telmex guy. Lalo was busy drumming up some business with some Americans, so we asked Daniel to call.

Daniel made the call and Bex handled the go-between…until Daniel handed the phone to her and said Bruno wanted to talk to her. Bexico rolled with it and we are to call Bruno manana at noon to see if he has been able to arrange a time with his jefe (boss). Positive news is that Bruno has the new work order!!

Went home, had the French stick with o&v and then we had la cena…the pasta meal!

Every morning I check the temperature highs and lows for the day before, and we had one of our coolest nights yet…it dropped to 23.2 degrees. Lalo says that come December, it is soooo frio (cold), that locals do not use fans when they sleep. LOL

As for the goings on for today, it was a pretty average day.

On the way to the gym I saw this line up out side the pollo roti.

I asked dos hombres about the line up, but they had no explanation. Maybe it was just the time of day, but I have never seen a line up there before today.

I also saw these people selling papayas out of the back of their truck. Click on the photo and look at the size of those things!!

I hit the gym, had some small talk with my new gym amigo and then came home.
We got a great float in and then Bexico hit Blue to send off some of her work. Today she sent off 3 Christmas cards to Pamit.ca as well as her company logo.

I went to Che while Bex chopped up the salad ingredients. La cena was roti pollo y papas and of course an ensalada mixta!!

No luck on Telmex today. Bex talked with Bruno at noon, but he stated he needed to go back to the office to talk with his boss, and we never heard back from him. Monday we will go back to Christina at Telmex and see what we can get done.

Manana, the gym is cerrado as they are giving everyone the day off due to the holiday on Lunes and Martes pasada. So instead, we might take a drive up past Santa Cruz, where this taxi is from.

This taxi is one of only a few at the bufadero. What is a bufadero? This next picture is a picture of the bufadero...a blow spout. Once we have taken our own photos, we will post one for all to see.

So all…have a great weekend wherever you may find yourselves.

Until manana,

Saludos
