Buenos noches!!! 930pm and we had a great day. The walk, the gym, the pool
and the dinner!!
First things first...Max is 24 weeks old today and we cannot believe how much he has grown and changed already. He is no longer a bébe, but our lil'hombre!!
Max was wonderful all day, including an hour alone with his abuelos. And he continued that great behaviour as we delayed his rutina so we could all go out for la cena.
And gracias to mis padres for picking up the tab...la cena was great...both the food and service!! And including propina...less then $100 for the 5 of us!!
Won't bore you with the rest of the day details...on to the Oaxaca road trip fotos!!
A small church in the montaña.
At the same stop, honey, coffee and platanos were for sale.
The lighter colored leaves are from the bamboo.
And then there was the pet squirrel...or do the peeps from the montaña eat squirrel?
Spot the village amongst the greenery?
Safety first...my 4-ways are on, or as many Mexicans call them, the turn signals. Doph.
There were 3 hungry mouths to fill!!!
And one of them had her first tlayuda...minus the grasa de cerdo!!
At one alebrije stop, this perro was running around with the paint can.
In San Bartolo Coyotepec, land of the black pottery, they had this song posted in a tienda.
Across the street from our hotel, a knife sharpener with a Canadian flag on his hat!!
In the zocalo, the band was rocking.
The peeps were dancing.
And this hombre was explaining the meaning of the song.
The zocalo is huge compared to the one in Huatulco and other then during the torrential downpour, it was always busy. Truly the hub of activity.
Here Bubba has managed to get an internet connection that allowed me to FT with Bex...too late for Max's rutina, but the next 2 nights I sat there and chatted up mi familia!!
I love the architecture of this city!!
Art deco?
At our first desayunos...mis padres.
Bubba y padre.
A nice chandelier.
With a bird's nest in it.
Warning!! Love the picture of the brick falling on the hombre's head!!
The book store in Oaxaca's jail?
And that word is "filatelia", not...oh forget it.
Buzons.
Misc fotos from a walk.
Marco y madre.
A foto mi padre took, one of my favorites.
Oma at her best...in the tienda de telas.
Another foto from Opa. The zocalo has a very European feel to it.
A lot of the doors lead to stores and then courtyards. This one did as well...but what's up with the ojo diablo?
Esteban provided many of the pieces of furniture in R&H's casa. Great pieces!! We met Esteban and mi padre the artist, had a great chat with his...Esteban speaks perfect ingles!!
Padre, you still owe me $7 pesos as those items were NOT for candles!!
Colorful buckets of flavored nieves...ices.
Parking on the street was TIGHT.
Not sure what this bank's sign was about.
A protest had closed off this calle.
7am on miercoles and the clean linen has been delivered.
Some shots from an early morning walk.
It was nice and cool until 11am or so, then heated up and was then nice again around supper time. Overall, much cooler then Huatulco and no humido!!
I watched this hombre try to park his car.
Attempt #1
Attempt #2
Attempt #3
He got out to take a look.
Attempt #4
And then he gave up and drove away.
Not sure the purse matches. But the plastic bag sure does!!
Monte Alban...this is the ball court.
They are doing some restoration and numbered the rocks so they could be put back in their proper places.
Some crazy invisible animal or insect was making loud noises all over Monte Alban. I am sure they were hiding in these "nests".
Upon closer review, I saw these hormigas clearing dirt out of these cracks in the rocks. It was falling onto the rocks...question answered.
A great foto from Opa...I almost had one like this...ja ja ja.
Another from padre.
From inside the museo.
Headed out to FT with mi familia...I see this guy hiding behind coat racks. Very suspicious.
Some nube.
The band was better then the guys hanging the sign.
Oma and Opa got all dressed up to go dancing.
So let me get this right. I can take 1 exam and get my Bachelors?
Royalty striking a pose.
From the roof top of Olla, the restaurante we ate our last dinner in.
Tough to see...but on the roof of the dry cleaners, there are 2 big monkeys in a cage.
One of these perro was hungry for love. He wasn't hungry for too long...nudge nudge, wink wink.
From the Pedro collection....Opa, not Pedro Pollo.
Two colored lettuce strainers and ta da...a funky light.
Looking down from the roof top towards the planta baja.
And down the spiral staircase.
El Tule...friggin huge tree!!
745am, they were not open yet...and it was frio!!
Choose and insert your own caption here.
Two of many perro roaming the town.
Perro on the roof.
And in Teotitlan, hand dyed wool, colored using natural ingredients like the bugs of cactus flowers!!
Our host was very friendly and spoke very good ingles as well as español and his own native tongue, zapotec.
And other then our host, the rest were jack-a**es.
What happens when you pull over for a cup of crappy Joe? The big rig you passed, passes you.
How many vehicles can pass the big rig BEFORE a truck comes around the bend, towards you? Two. We were vehicle number three...doph. I squeezed right, the truck coming right at us squeezed towards his right and I pulled in behind the big rig.
After my hear started again, I apologized. The only close call on the trip...not including the 2 tope I saw at the very last moment!!
And that was the trip to Oaxaca!!
Want some Max fotos? Max in the Bumbo chair. Today was the first day I made his cereal for him, and fed him as well.
Based on the looks, I did not need to add the 4 tablespoons of sugar into the cereal.
Which led to his sugar crash.
Hey...I was kidding about the sugar.
Those are all the fotos mis amigos.
1030pm and Bex is hard at work in the oficina and Max is sound asleep. I think he sleeps better when he hears my snoring? At least someone does!! ja ja ja
Mañana...hello to el fin de semana!! Phew. El gimnasio and a tranquilo weekend. We are going to get mi madre to the oceano one more time before they leave on martes, but not sure when and where. Stay tuned.
Have a great weekend.
Marco, Bex y Max
