Hola mis amigos.

715pm and we are mid rutina. Great day here in Huatulco…no humido and last night it was even frio at 24,0 grados. Brrrrrr.

And soon, Max or I will have to start sleeping in his cuna!! 3am and someone was awake and tapping me on my back. So we talked about the troubles in Tibet and he fell asleep thinking about the Dali Lama.

He was right next to me and I could feel every breath and squirm. And then 6am came and I recall another tap tap tap. This time madre gave him a top up on his tanque and he slept until 7am…and not a minute more.

So up and at em and after some chill’laxing, off for a morning walk and then hooked up with Bexico who was finishing some alberca time…solo. Not a peep around the pool!!

Not sure what happened next, but I do know I was headed out to el gimnasio at 1pm…the ugly hour due to heat. Might not have been any humido, but it was still 35,0 grados out.

So so workout and then back home for some afternoon rutina followed by the alberca time con Max y Bex. And the big news here? For the first dunk, Max needed help in closing his ojos y boca but then when we had him stand on the pool edge and just lifted him up in the air and splashed him into the pool…he closed both his eyes y mouth.

So….we did it again but this time we dunked him and it worked perfect!! We are getting to the place where he will be able to jump into the water and not be afraid to close his eyes and be smart enough to close his mouth!! And he won’t be 6 months old until May 4!!

As promised, it is lunes and here are some pool fotos.

Whose cowboy bubbles were those? Yours?

Pudgy Grumps

Upstairs we went where Max wolfed back some cereal and some zanahoria. He then chilled while we ate ensaladas and la cena and then he was off to the rutina…and you are all caught up.

For those that feel I am not bringing enough "color" to the blog, here is a news clip NOT for the young...or too old. Click HERE for a BMW story. God Bless America!!

Lots of Mexicans in town…well, it is Mexico. Naaaah…lots of tourists. ¿Por que? There are a string of holidays this week and when you put them all together, it is a week off.

El primero de mayo is Día de los Trabajadores…Labour Day.

El 3 de mayo is Día de Santa Cruz and is a holiday celebrated by the carpinteros, construction hombres and the such. Crosses are posted at the construction sites and copious amounts of cerveza are drunk…followed by fireworks.

And el 5 de mayo is really about the Mexicans kicking the French’s butt in the Batalla de Puebla. It is a holiday that is celebrated more by Mexican Americans vs Mexicans in Mexico.

For more info on the battle, click HERE.

Fridge update…the cleaning etc did NOT solve our water in the fridge issue. Argh. Will now have to figure out why the water dripping from the evaporator coils, is missing the catch tray. Stay tuned.

But possible good news? I picked up a magazine from Puerto Escondido and on the cover is an ad for Whirlpool repairs and parts!! I probably need some help trying to see if they can order a shelf for us…hola Daniel!!

Ok, the rest of the fotos.

Max y madre joined me for part of the walk. Max is an sombrilla grabber.

The tiangus (mercado) next to Gabriel's is named el 3 de mayo mercado. They will be part of the big celebrations come jueves.

Pre-pool time and Max has been trying to get the black fan for 15 minutes.

And from sometime earlier today...cuna time.

Our mañana…FM3 crunch!!

Last foto!!

Hasta mañana.

Buenos noches all.

How about this? 745pm and the lil’sleeper was lights out…on the boob!! We must have tired him out with the time at Mojon as he was super well behaved during the lead up to the rutina, then became a little antsy after the tina and then he could not keep his ojos open.

Stay tuned…normally 30 minutes into lights out, one of us has to go in and have a chat with him. He likes to practice his español during these moments, and we oblige him with verbos y numeros.

As for the día…Bex took the early one and hasn’t gone back to sleep yet. 645pm and I think she is baking cookies in her sleep.

I was up 9’ish and then we progressed with our day and headed out to Mojon before 11am.

A GREAT day there as the weather was great, Max was great and I even went out on the boogie board for maybe the first time in a year.

Great olas and the surfers were taking advantage of it. Bex was too pooped today, but will be back at it the next time we are out.

Great gadzooks? Someone took the time to clean up all the basura from where the carretera meets the road to Mojon!! It looked great…muchos gracias mi amigo.

Again, once we are there full time, we will put together a program of both education and labour, to help keep the playa and road clean!!

We had some good beach time and Bex has been working on getting Max comfortable with the olas. Not quite like the alberca, but I am sure with some time at Santa Cruz, where the oceano is calm, he will get the hang of it.

That reminds me…ayer, for the first time ever, Max had a dunk and did not need to have us blow in his face to get him to shut his ojos y boca!!

We had been seeing him close his eyes and mouth on the count of 2 and then we were blowing, but this time we just went one, two, three and dunked him and he knew when and what to do!! Smart niño!!

Back to the playa…there was a nap in there…fotos to follow and we also managed to grab some hot tub time for him. He loves the pool and only wants to be on his belly.

With the tub in the shape of a starfish, he was turning himself around and around. Hilarious.

We like the earlier time at Mojon as it is not too hot…and it leaves us plenty of time for some papas a la frances at Senor Pucks!! Throw in 2 DC, an agua mineral and a tea, and the propina…all for $100 pesos or $7.80 Cdn!!

Hola to Karen at Pucks, grabbed a CD that may work on the Mac…clase de español and also grabbed an invite to a possible turkey dinner once Karen finds one!! Score!!!

After the fries we headed home to unpack and start the rutina…which now includes carrots for the lil’conejito!!

815pm UPDATE….Max is no longer visible in the monitor. Doph…he has gone out for burgers? Bex has gone in for some recon.

Great burgers tonight…not a very Mexican meal, but they were on Bimbo buns though!!

Misc

How to keep a Mexican happy? Call him or her Max’s tío o tía, give them a foto of Max splashing in his Mojon hot tub…and see the huge Mexican smile!!

We did this with Silverio as we were headed out the gate, and tonight at 730pm when I took out the basura, he was still talking about the foto and had brought it out to show Marcelino. Then he commented that the foto was good enough to be on a package of pañales!!

Which of course leads to the on going questions Mexicans have…how much did the camera cost? Only peeps close to you would ask, and even then it is not so much about “you are rico” vs curiosity about the cost of things that they will probably never own.

Ok, fotos…

Fresh from a nap in the camioneta...someone is ready to start the playa activities!!

And one day soon, this will be Max!! Did I mention...right off his front porch?

But for now, madre is getting him used to the olas.

Here they come Max!!

Ta da...del mar has arrived.

And based on the look on his face...is that all you got?

Over 4 feet long!!

And the aforementioned nap.

Look at that ginger hair (cabello rojo)...just like his padre had at this age.

Mañana…some phone calls to make some citas and time to buckle down and get the paperwork ready for Max’s FM3.

Have a great lunes.

Hola mis amigos!!!

645pm…the race is about to start and we are just waiting for the penne noodles to finish cooking!!

Now here is an interesting start to the day.

So after our walk around centro, Max and I retire to the alberca to cool our pies. We normally sit in the camping chairs and chill’lax and today was no different. The chairs are under the arbol grande…the big tree, and all of a sudden we see something fall out of the tree, only a few metros away from where we are sitting.

It was a snake...not the biggest snake, but who knows what type it is and if it is harmless or not.

I point out the snake to the joven who was in the pool, then I get Petra to look at it. She promptly tells Marciano to get his machete. Cooler heads prevail and the padre of the joven steers the snake…to the chair Max has been sitting in!!

I grab Max and we share my chair and moments later, the snake crawls up the newly vacated chair. Yikes. The hombre grabs the chair, puts it in the gardenia and then the snake stops, gives us a wink and takes off.

Marciano con machete!!

As for the walk, it was early and still cool from the night. Seems we hit our daytime lows around 6am and it hovers there for a few hours before the sun comes up and the temperatures start jacking up.

Saw quite a few peeps, some old amigos and some new faces. Grabbed a beso from Tío Betto (Max did…not me!!) and for madre, a croissant from the bakery.

After the pool, we swapped Max off and shortly later it was off to el gimnasio where I had the place to myself. Pit stop for some pan and plátanos and then home.

Bex was working out and Max was keeping pace via the JJ. The two of us hung out reading some Dr Seuss and then madre took the lil’drooler off for some more leche and another nap…in the cuna!!

When we both awoke from our separate naps, off to the pool where he LOVES the floatie…that I have no fotos of…yet. Mañana is Mojon, so you will see some pool fotos on lunes.

835pm UPDATE

Max was not falling asleep so Bex asked me to take over. She did ALL the heavy lifting, some 25 minutes of rocking and 3 attempts to get him to sleep.

I walk in, lay him down on the bed, he spat out his soother and went to sleep. Ja ja ja.

Talking about poaching, how about chest nap poaching? Ayer, Bex had finished rocking Max and was about to put him in his cuna, and I stroll into his room, lay on the bed, get myself comfy and ask for Max on my chest!! Smooth operator!!

After the pool, upstairs for the latest addition to the rutina…we feed Max some solids while we are eating our ensaladas. Correction….currently it has been Bex doing this but I will be getting more involved soon…I really want to.

So Max had some cereal and then some mushed up apples…and ate it all!! He is truly enjoying the eating experience….like madre like hijo!!

Then I cook la cena, Max chills out and watches us eat dinner…and then off to his tina. And now a days, keeping him in his tub is becoming more and more of a challenge. Part monkey maybe?

Fotos.

Ever get that feeling that someone is looking down on you?

The Nest of Leon.

Lots of autobuses in town this weekend.

And later in the day I saw this bus and a hombre under it.

Let's just say he was NOT draining the oil...yech.

Elder sprucing up the shop.

If only the condo was bigger...

King Neptune getting the royal treatment. Not sure why.

No rear window. No placas. No driver?

Doph...Tamarindos. Good luck.

And rarer then the two headed kitten or snake?

Yup...5 peeps on a 100cc scooter. Check out the rear tire.

Not sure there are 5 peeps? You can clearly see the 4 heads. The 5th head is hidden but belongs to the 3rd set of legs from the back of the moto.

Some mid afternoon chez lounge time.

Here is Max with his bath book...a regalo from his abuelos.

As mentioned, Mojon tomorrow…maybe a pit stop at Pucks for some papas, and then home for hamburguesa domingo!!

Currently Bex is cooking up some food for Max’s next solid meal and then is headed into the oficina. She has been given more work by her San Diego based client, and HERE is a link to some work she has completed for the Belgium based client.

Me? Duh…the race. Max? zzzzzzzzzz

Hope you are having a great weekend.
