Buenos noches!!

Viernes has come and gone. Where did the day go?

It was a great day though!!

But primero, a story from anoche. We were coming back from our walk and Bexico wanted to buy some plantains to make the plátanos frito, so we stopped at our veggie/fruit store.

We saw regular bananas and some that might have been plantains. I saw a madre y her nino so I asked her “estos son los plátanos mucho?”. Doph. I knew that was wrong and she smiled and said, si plátanos machos…not muchos. Doph!! Ja ja ja

Anyway, Bexico bought them and cooked them up and topped them with Lechera.

Photo below.

And here is a link to it’s own website.

And how were the plátanos fritos? Better then Los Portales Chef Bexico stated!!

On to the activities of hoy.

Gimnasio and then off to San Augustine.

Here are the fotos from my walk to el gimnasio.

I know what you might be thinking…I saw this foto ayer. But no…it is new!!

WFSITBOTT

It is a different mobile manufacturer then the one we saw ayer!!

I am just not sure there is that big a need for all these tables and bed bases.

An otra turismo bus.

And ta-da, the helado salesman and the refresco cart arrive!!

Clase de espanol…

What kind of tienda (store) is this?

If you said hardware store, you were correct.

El gimnasio was ok…just a work out and a short chat with Rosa. Her plans for domingo have changed, but I could not understand why. She seemed disappointed.

Ghimbo and Logan flew the coop pasado lunes, off to Mexico City. He told me it was family related, but Rosa knows nothing and the whole thing is mysterious. I hope all is well…Rosa is not sure when they will return.

Came home and then we loaded up and hot the road. San Augustine is a playa/bahia that is about 35km away from La Crucecita. Only 25 minutes to the turn off, and then 35 minutes for the 13km drive down the dirt road to the playa.

Here is a link to Google map that will show you the playa.

If you follow the road to the right, it will take you norte to Ruta 200 and if you take a right on that highway, you will see the Huatulco aeropuerto.

Here are the fotos from our trip.

Looking out towards the oceano, these three fotos are panoramic from the left of the beach.

And these 3 are from the right side.

San Augustine is a long beach and there is no set parking. Along with that, once you get to the beach, there are no less then 5 ways to get to the different parts of the beach.

Next time, we will stay left and go to the deserted part, but not knowing this playa, we went right.

The good thing about going right? All the restaurants are there.

The bad thing? We drove down this road and were all of a sudden being chased by a 15 year old hombre. And then the pitch comes. Park at my restaurant for free…but all we ask is that you eat your lunch here and maybe rent your snorkel gear etc from us.

Not knowing where we were, we asked if a few cervezas would suffice and they said sí.

After some tiiiight parking, we ended here.

In the shade, 2 feet from the tables and only a few more feet from the oceano.

We took our gear and walked for a few minutes to find some open playa and we set up camp.

Once again…the chairs from Costco came in soooo handy. And the cooler from Crappy Tire…still working!!

We quickly jumped into the oceano and spent some time doing this.

There is a lot of coral etc in this bahia, so right away we saw a ton of pescado. As a matter of fact, we ended up seeing many different types of pescado, including a blue fish with polka dots…like something out of the Bill Murray pelicula The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

Here is a link to the movie…just to ease your curiosity.

We love the movie so much, we own it and I sent away for the red beanie and a few playeras (t-shirts)!! (picked them up while we were in Van back in January)

Back to the pescado. We found a school of no less then dosciento (200) fish and for the next 20-25 minutes, all I did was float in and amongst these fish. So cool!!! These fish were the size of a football and I managed to grab a few tails…even cutting my finger on one.

I looked up for Bexico and who was heading to shore? Bexico Cousteau had this inking that where there are large schools of fish, come large sharks!! Ja ja ja

This is me coming out of the oceano and then explaining how big the fish were!!

We took a break and went back to our parkade/restaurante for some comida…lunch.

Here are some fotos I took while waiting for the food.

Bexico being pensive about having to wait for her feeding!! Ja ja ja

Some colorful ropa.

And here is a building that housed 5 or 6 hammocks.

I am not sure if they were for rent or what their purpose was. Eat and then take a siesta?

And here are the nino fotos.

This last guy was amazed to see himself in the LCD screen. I guess he may have never seen something like that before. His madre was smiling and laughing with him as he became excited seeing himself.

Our food came and I think we were Mexico’ismed…if there is such a thing. Bexico ordered one shrimp cocktail and two arrived. I am sure we could have told him we ordered one, but we decided to keep it as we were sure they could have done nothing else with it.

It was an ok cocktail…but $300 pesos for 2 cocktails, 3 coca lights and a plate of papa fritas seems to be turista prices!!

Last two fotos from San Augustine. If you are planning to do it, this would be a nice place to.

It is the San Augustine iglesia (church).

After our comida, we went for another swim, a walk and then packed it up.

We explored the other 4 roads and that is how we figured out how to get to the deserted section of the playa. As previously mentioned, it is all about staying left once you get to the playa!!

We headed home and took these fotos on the way.

Some peacocks and a peacock trying to attract the attention of one of the ladies!!

We think these are papayas.

And as we were driving, we saw some more peroitos…puppies.

These guys/gals were so tiny....hope they will be a-ok!!

Our last foto of the day....

From the middle of the jungle…an ostrich!!

Came home, showered up at the alberca and took a quick dip.

Had a quick iChat with mi padre as anoche we had a problem with my mike. I could hear them but they could not hear me.

Despues the iChat, we ate. La cena was an ensalada mixta and then some cerdo con papas y arroz.

Mañana? El gimnasio y possibly Mojon as I am leaning to watching the Daytona 500 at Senor Pucks on domingo.

Tener un buen fin de semana…have a great weekend.

Marcos y Bexico
