Hola amigos!!

An otra dia al sol…another day in the sun!! Current temp at 4pm is 32.4 in the shade…off to the pool in 10 minuto!!

Today’s plan was to try the new gym and have Bex meet me there so we could pay our electric bill and walk further down Blvd Chahue to Telmex.

The gym is only a 10 minute walk and it cost 50 pesos for one day. Yes all the equipment is nuevo, but it is not the best. Not hating…just stating!! Seems the old gym had Life Fitness equipment, really built for gyms and the new stuff is more for home gyms. Not as sturdy and functional.

The free weights are great, but cannot tell how much they weigh as the kilos are well hidden. The free weights in my locals gym re hilarious. They are bars with rings of weight and then a weld at the end to make sure they do not come off. The rings are not all tight so sometimes the possibility of a finger or skin pinch is a reality.

Alejandro (Alex) managed the old Huatulco Fitness and is back at the new gym. They have been abierto por dos dias and he was still working out the kinks in some of the equipment. One thing that made me laugh was how low the equipment is. I am constantly having problems hitting the stacks of weight and it dawned on me…these pieces of equipment have been made for Mexicans who happen to be around 5 feet tall!! Hilarious!! Bottom line? I will stick to my local’s gym and maybe once in a while go to the newer gym.

515pm…back from pool. Two days in a row with clouds rolling in around 5pm. It cools things down nicely

So we received an electric bill in our mailbox!! It was for the 62 days ending Oct 4, so we really don’t have a clear idea about what we will end up paying. The basico charge is .623 pesos per kwh and looking at our meter yesterday vs what the reading was on Oct 4, we have used on average 10.5 kwh per day. That equates to 6.54 pesos/day or 55 cents Cdn. We will have to see the first real bill because they do charge at two levels, basico and high volume.

Paying the bill was a snap. Touch the screen on the ATM looking machine (caja), allow the scanner to read the bill, insert pesos, get pesos in change, collect your receipt and ta-da.

Bex and I walked from the gym, paid the bill and then hit Telmex…who had chosen to close their public servico for the day. Lol They will return manana, meircoles.

Walked home, stopped in the mall…almost deserted. No shoppers, no stores…but we found the theatre and will look into a show manana. Along calle Carrizal, we found a Banco Nova Scotia ATM, so we have access to our bank 5 minutes from the condo.

But don’t go on Friday!! Two Fridays in a row we have seen line ups of blue collar Mexicans waiting to use the machines. Must be pay day.

Some of you may know about my affection for Coca Light…but A&E arrived and they want to film an episode of Intervention due to the amount I drink. Almost dos litro por uno dia…yikes. I am going to go down to the 600ml bottle and limit myself to one a day and then see what I can do. It is just so warm and the Coca Light is soooo refreshing!!

Tonight’s cena is brochette cerdo con el arroz (pork with rice), but first to the veggie store as the big truck arrived today with all the fresh produce. We have circled next Martes on our calendar to ensure we don’t buy veggies on Lunes…there was a poor selection last night. Bex is looking for el ejote (green beans…we thought it was frijoles verde) and I could always eat some more of la sandia (watermelon).

Last night’s pollo con Bubba’s agitar y panader was delicious!! A bit (hee x 3) spicey, but we are keeping it on the menu. We will have some chili this week, some more pasta con chorizo, pollo, cebollo y piemente verde (green pepper?) and probably some more roti!!

PARENTAL ALERT!!

We have some younger followers and if they have not had the “talk” with their parents yet, you may want to skip this section, or you will have some ‘splaining to do.

We saw this poster:

We were curious about the vitamins and home service/delivery. We did not have our dictionary with us so we could not understand all the listed benefits, but this one looked interesting.

Only in Mexico? Lol

Back from veggie shopping and now off to cook la cena.

Until manana.

Saludos
