Happy Domingo to all!! It is Sunday….and Happy Birthday to our amigo Ackeeu, where ever in the World you may be today!!
6pm…a quick update as we are headed out for la cena and so Bex can iChat with her madre.
Hit Mojon (our playa…beach) today. The road down had little visible damage from rainy season, but there were a few areas with some massive puddles. But unlike last year with mi madre y padre, we did not get stuck in any mud!!
We love the umbrella, chairs and cooler. It all works so well as the sand is dark and very hot in the sun!!
Here is a photo essay of the day at Mojon.
New photo of Mojon taken from the Norte headland.
Our lot is between the long red roof and the ½ done project to the right. This photo may help. There are 30x30 metre lots between the red roof and the unfinished project, and ours is right next to the unfinished project.
This is Playa Majahul, the playa next to ours, over the headland.
Some surf at Majahul. A deserted playa…not sure how to get there other then via the headland. Prime surfing!!
Some cacti near the top of the headland.
Bex and our “fort”…the umbrella etc. The orange house is Terry’s from Edmonton, the white house was the Brits and now owned by an American lady, and we are not sure who owns the lot with the palapa on it.
We are worried about the crowds here...not!!
Trying my hand at artistic photography. This is some colorful sand that comes down from the mountains.
Our neighbors have added some concrete corners (?) to their lot. The water well to the right is one of two we have had dug on our property. Great story about the water “doctor” and how he found the two wells using his divining rods. Another time.
Mexico DOES have rules. These people did not have either the environmental or possibly the federal zoning completed, and had a clausurado sign posted by the government. They will need all the surveys etc completed and will also have to pay a fine. We have seen a huge hotel/condo project suffer the same fate and they have not completed any work on that site in over 2 years.
On the way home, we pass through a military checkpoint at Copalita (a village on the Copalita river). For the first time EVER, they asked us to pull over and asked to search the truck.
Three soldiers, one BIG gun and one out of three was quite friendly. We got out of the truck, said “no problemo” and they took 2 minutes for the search. Over all, we were impressed with the search and how polite they were. One soldier asked if we were Americans and upon us saying we were Canadian, we got another smile. And then we were on our way.
As we drove along, we saw some goats being herded along the highway. We slowed down as Bex saw the cutest kid (baby goat…not hijo) and all of a sudden one of these goats decides to hang a right (no turn signal), right into our lane. A VERY quick swerve and we avoided hitting them. Phew…would have been nasty and the poor farmer would have lost some valuable property.
That has been our day. I know am watching Joe Montana on FOX Sports NFL in Espanol!! La cena will be at Los Portales.
Hope all is well in your worlds.
Until manana,
Saludos
