Domingo Octubre 24, 2010

NFL Domingo (Sunday) !! A few good games on during the early afternoon and I am just catching the end of the New England vs San Diego game. It is the 4to cuarto…no show during medio tiempo…pictures of bikini gals though (??). It is NFL Fox and then announcers in Espanol and the commercials are Mexican…kinda like the Superbowl where Canada misses the good commercials.

Bexico and I started the day with a cleaning of the condo. With all the windows open and with us walking as much as we do, the condo gets dusty as well as the floors pick up fine sand. We also realize that if you don’t do a clean up every few days, the tiny hormiga (ants) come in for a visit.

Pan frances Domingo for mi desayunos…so good as the cinnamon down here is very tasty.

A note about last night, there was a motorcycle demo in town. They were doing wheelies and such and the zocalo (sokalo…town square) was packed with bikes and families watching the show.

Not much happened here today, but we did do the 20 minute walk to Super Che to pick up some mantaquila. The butter we had was the no name brand and it just did not smell right and we needed some for tonight’s papas (potatoes). I found out Super Che is just a smaller version of the larger store, Chedraui. Feel free to look them up at www.chedraui.com.mx.

We met Hector (silent H) who is the gentleman who does some of the handy work around the compound. Today he was walking around with a very long pole and was knocking avispa (abeespa…wasp) nests off the windows where they had become attached. He had taken one off by Bex’s office window and we had one on our bedroom window so I went down and said hola, introduced myself (mi llamo Marco) and pointed to the other grande one. Uno mas (one more) I said and off he went. Twenty peso propina that he did not want to take, but was appreciated.

Cannot wait? Here it is…

This taxi hails from true Huatulco, Santa Maria de Huatulco, up in the mountains. We have not been there yet, but it is on our list.

La semana que viene (next week), I am meeting with my Huatulco construction guy, Roman. I have a list of questions for him and hope to have some clear answers as to next steps for getting permission to build, as well as costs associated (government and his for facilitating the process). Exciting times and will update you on Viernes.

Also will send an email to our landlords and request another remote for the a/c. I guess the previous tenant lost two (?) of them and we will need another one for when mi padre y madre come to visit. We have sent a list of items we hope to have brought down when they come…no Starbucks here in Huatulco. We will have to wean Bex off her pods and get her onto the local espresso soon!! lol

So it was cleaning, football, a swim, a walk, another swim and then more football.

Tonight our cena was cerdo con papas y arroz…we both love that meal!!

We wish all of you a successful week ahead.

Saludos
