Bex seems to love this new homemade salsa!! Look for it soon on the shelves of your nearest Super Che!!
Today? Hmmmm. Desayuno was more cereal and some watermelon and then off to the gym.
On the way to the gym I took these photos.
This is next to a park 5 minutes from home. This cart sells a comida (meal) and is ALWAYS busy. I see taxis, police, locals etc pull up and eat there.
I also saw this guy unloading his truck. Later, we actually saw him in town, and from his wheelbarrow, he was selling one of his ceramic dog piggy banks to an elderly senor.
The gym is in the industrial sector of town and here is the garage where you get your car worked on:
It is unique here. If you need work done and don’t know where a shop I located, you drive around until you see what you are looking for. Llanteria (tire repair), welder, mechanic, refrig repair, electronico etc. We found the fridge repair guy because he had 3 in the front of his workshop.
You can also tell tourist season is coming:
The guys work for Fonatur and are filling in potholes. These other guys are white washing (maybe pintura…paint) the curbs down Blvd Chahue.
And if you wonder where they store the pintura:
Continued onto the gym and it is soooo hot (calore) in there…phew. Had a laugh with Rosa and Paty as we made a lista por novio (list for boyfriend) and I had to write it in Espanol and they had to write it in Ingles. The new words turned out to be pelo y (and) calvo. I asked Paty con pelo o (or) calvo and her answer was pelo. Doesn’t want a bald hombre!! Lol
Also confirmed pricing for the gym. First I asked cuando termina? (tairmeena) and pointed to my nota de venta (receipt). She said Octubre 29 and gave me the pricios for una mes ($250 pesos…roughly $20 Cdn) y seis mes ($200/per…roughly $17). I will be staying with this gym, as it is half the price of the new gym and with more local’s interaction (on our walks we have bumped into Gimeli yesterday and today).
This photo is of a canal that runs through the industrial sector from the hills, through the sector and emptying into Marina Chahue. There are several of these canals and I am sure they are very full (and peligroso…dangerous) during rainy season.
While I was out, Bex pounded out another work out at home and after I came home we decided to walk to Super Che to pick up a roti pollo por la cena. Here are some photos from that walk.
That photo was another example of how people here make a living. These trucks do not have scheduled stops, you stop them if you need water. I think the price of the water is the same as at the store (not sure if the driver gets it at a discount) $19 pesos, so they make their money from propinas (tips). We tip the guard at our gate $6 pesos to get us the water and today we were home when our jug arrived, so Bex gave the driver $5 for bringing it up to our condo from the street.
Here at Super Che, they are getting ready for the kids:
We have seen costumes and plastic calabaza, but it dawned on me that we have not seen any bags of candy. It will be interesting to see how they celebrate Halloween.
Mi padre sent me a post card, but I have not received it yet. I asked if there is home delivery and Lalo was not sure. A guy lives in Huatulco but does not know if they deliver mail? They just don’t have a need for mail.
So, the mail might end up here:
And possibly delivered by this:
This is the only post box we have seen in town. Not sure how much a stamp would cost or where to buy it. The post office itself had no one in it, and just a bunch of mailboxes you would see for rent in Canada…PO boxes.
At Super Che we bought some balsamic vinegar and olive oil and wanted some bollo (buns) for dipping. We went to Alejandro’s Panificadora and they had just baked some fresh bollobollo a smell, said “bueno” to the senor who always seems to be there (day and night) and he smiled a gracias type of smile. I have never seen this senor smile…glad he did, as his products are delicious.
Picked up a few more veggies on the way home and then a dip and float in the pool.
Dinner was great, pollo y arroz (rice) and a small ensalada mixta.
8pm, the blog is done and now it is time to go post it.
Until manana,
saludos
