Did I mention how frio it gets here in Oaxaca City at night? 925pm and it is currently 14 grados here and with the viento (wind), it feels like 10. In La Crucecita it is currently 26 grados and will drop to a chilly 20 grados overnight, while Oaxaca City will drop to 5 grados. Brrrrr.
When we went out at 6pm, Bexico was wearing jeans and a long sleeve shirt and went back for her hoody. Yours truly forgot his Nike hoody in Huatulco and was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. My only help...double up on the t-shirt!! ja ja ja
Manaña for Monte Alban, we will have great weather for the hike, with the temperature reaching only 26 grados at 2pm.
Here is a link to some wikipedia info regarding Monte Alban.
Info on Monte_Albán
As for today...we walked and walked and soaked in all the sites. Very appealing to the senses as there is so much ti see, hear and smell (good and bad).
So-so desayunos at a cafe and then we hit several tienda y mercados. Manaña o sabado, we hope to hit up some of the many museos...museums.
The main 3 mercados we went to were the mercado Benito Juárez, mercado 20 de noviembre y mercado de Artesanias. As for tiendas...too many to list but we saw some great ropa (clothes) and lots of artisan items that we liked as well as felt would look great in the villas.
We did end up buying a small "dia de muertos" item...foto when we get home. Also looked at a bigger clay item...but not sure of the $570 peso price tag.
Fotos?? A ton. I will try to group them and keep the titles simple.
Architecture
Casino de Oaxaca?
Hotel on zocalo.
We liked the building. No need for what they sell!! ja ja ja
Iglesias (churchs)
Mercados
One market we went into was all about breads and comedors...small restaurantes.
Elvis has left the house.
Bexico getting some instructions on how to wear the "pantalones"
In most markets, you pay for using the banos. Not sure what this sign alludes to.
$3 pesos to enter and then you have choices of 2 or 3 ply? ja ja ja
Sombreros y mas sombreros
Cebollos...onions.
Exterior of a mercado.
Piñatas.
Misc
Ninos on their way to school.
The traffic cop stopped traffic for the ninos and then walked down the street to the white car and gave him a ticket for double parking.
When we came back and saw him later, he was removing the licesnse plate of a car blocking the handicap ramp of the sidewalk. Then we saw him take photos to prove the car was illegally parked. Unique...I guess they are doing this as people don't believe all the tickets are legit...and we know there is history of this happening.
Shoe shine hombres in the zocalo.
Globos hombres in the zocalo.
Lots of costumes for ninos.
Imagine the life long damage if you dress your kid up as this!!
Just un hombre y su coca cola.
Digging the Converse on this cowboy!!
The view towards the montañas.
I cannot say if it is norte, sur, este o al oeste because Oaxaca City is in a valley surrounded by montañas.
Another talented mujer...no hands needed.
Big score at Tony's!!
¿Por que? Can you say art supplies!!
Bexico picked up some canvases, paints, brushes etc!!
A nuevo palabra...perfumeria. Self explanatory.
Ninos with their soccer cards.
Brrr....frio!!
Nuevo palabra dos.
Nina.
Not sure what this is on the hillside.
I will look it up manaña. It looks like an open air stadium with some wind damage.
Long day of walking!! For la cena, we went here to eat.
This was based on a recommendation of one of Bexico's amigas in TO.
Here is their website.
La Olla
La olla means "the pot". It is a teaching kitchen where you can go and learn how to cook Oaxacan meals.
Overall? Great ensalada mixta y camerones diabla as well as the mojito. Service was not bad but we were let down by the world famous mole.
We had the mole negro and it was ok...but no wow. We thought it would be super spicy and it turned out to be similar to some bbq sauces we have had. It went well with the pollo y arroz...not sure about the plantain inside the pollo.
Oh well...you don't know if you don't try.

Mole Negro
Despues dinner, we came back and chill-laxed. The internet is super slow here...almost 3 hours to upload the fotos. A mission of love!!
Hope you all enjoyed the fotos.
Hasta manaña!!
