Day two of snowboarding at Whistler!!

Feliz Cumpleanos to mi hermana Karen!!

Another warm day in the Village and a very low freezing level means all the god snow will be in the alpine.

Here is the status of the alpine when we arrived at the chair lift.

Red is not good !!

Here is the line up for the main gondola.

Empty because it is roto…broken. The gondola goes to mid mountain and is supposed to continue to the top, but they have a transmission problem with the Segundo section. So…most peeps were taking a different route to the top.

Us? Take the gondola to mid mountain and then a small hoof and onto another chair. Then down a short run and up the Emerald chair. Sounds like our flight from Huatulco to Vancouver!!

No rain, but also no snow on the lower half due to the freezing level.

Did a few garbage runs, but a good opportunity to take some photos.

These two are of Blackcomb Mountain, across the way from Whistler.

These three photos are of the Peak to Peak gondola…from the peak of Whistler to Blackcomb and back.

And here is hard working Kent…

And then the “what? I am just checking my horoscope” look.

With our chair closed, but knowing that is where the GREAT snow would be, we took the gamble. Thinking that avalanche control would be over soon, and that the chair should open soon after we get there, we took a run to the chair.

There were lots of pees in line, but the chair was not open. We waited for quite a while but decided to leave when we were told they did not know when it would open and that it could take quite a while.

Long cat track back to the bottom of the Emerald, but we decided to do it and then hit the only powder runs we had previously seen earlier.

Cat tracks are tricky. And yup…I caught an edge, as I was going quite fast and BAM I hit the hard pack with my left shoulder, my head and then my right chest. It was a 7 out of 7 hit…I felt like I had hit a brick wall.

Made it to the chair and after 2 muscle relaxers, my stiff neck eased up, but my chest was (and is) sooooo sore. It is either a bad bruise, a pulled muscle of some sort, or a cracked rib. Managed to tough it out for the rest of the day, but it drained my energy and trying to stand up was impossible without Bexico’s help. Will see how I feel manana, but we are supposed to meet Wayne at 9am and…they did finally open “the chair” and the snow is GREAT!!

So the rest of the day was slow and steady boarding, but in nice powder on runs that had not been open for a few days.

Here are a few photos of Bexico, surfer and boarder.

And compliments of Melon, here is one photo of yours truly in the deep freshie.

Despues boarding, we went to Dustys at Creekside but it was packed!! Did bump into WH on the way to our cars and arranged the 9am meet. Said adios to Melon, but will see him on Miercoles at the casino!!

La cena? Dominos…phew I am full.

We did a wash, watched both the Steelers and the Packers win and now will settle down for a DVD.

Hasta luego.
