Hola amigos.
We have had a productive today here in Huatulco. Lots of work for Bexico and she had a great work out as well.
Me? I had a great workout, said hola to mi amigo Fermin. He drives a taxi for a living, 2 kids and is married. Today, he asked me for the translation of mesero. Waiter and waitress was the answer and he had trouble pronouncing waitress…all he kept saying was white trash, white trash. Ja ja ja
It was a VERY rare day….almost not a single foto on the way to and from el gimnasio. It was a tranquilo day, until getting closer to el centro.
Here are the fotos from both my walk home, and from the walk Bexico and I took together.
La Crucecita didn’t really exist until the 1980’s, so there is not much from a historical architecture point of view, unlike the city of Oaxaca.
But here is a foto from a now empty building.
The building used to house the IMSS or the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social. This is the agency that deals with social programs and medical coverage. They have a brand new oficina on Blvd Chahue, leaving a 4 story building empty except for the birds.
It is definitely surf season here.
And the rest of the fotos are of hard working Mexicans trying to make a living.
Selling oranges. (this one is fro you Tony)
Or sombrillas.
Or every possible type and marca (brand) of TV remote.
Or undershirts…now available in verde militar tambien (as well).
Or fósforos…matches.
And last but not least.
Across from the foto store, mi chorty amigo who sells baskets.
Despues de gimnsaio, I stopped in at the secadora repair yard, but no one home. Off to el centro to say hola to Daniel y amigos. He was pensive today because there was an armed robbery of another joyeria, only 2 stores away.
It all occurred the night of the big storm, 3 hombres con arma (gun) took everything. But the owner got free of the rope he was tied up with, called the police and the hombres were all caught.
Now, it will be up to the justice system and as Daniel says, if they have “influence” or not. Could be jail time and how long may depend on who the three hombres worked for.
Very rare to have that kind of incident here in town.
I left the boys after saying hola to Lalo via the phone. He is in Acapulco and excited to come back to work.
Came home and we hit the pool. No sol so it was a quick dip. Then it was errand time.
Off to the tienda de foto first. We had to wait 15 minutes, but we had our inmigracion fotos taken. The requirements are very particular, calling for 5 fotos, 3 facing front and 2 from the left…but they only use one on our tarjeta (card)? We came back in 20 minutes, waited another 10 and they were ready. Not the prettiest fotos we have had taken. Ja ja ja
Earlier today I also had our pasaportes foto copied for inmigracion…one more thing off the list.
Talk about pasaportes, once niño is born, it will be a rush to get the birth registered, the birth certificate and then a passport!! Not worried!!
While waiting for fotos we took off to buy some vanilla for Aimee, one of our new landlords. We had a friendly senorita assisting us, and even though we were mainly talking español, she kept at it with her best ingles.
Off to the Centro Comercial…the mall. And ta-da…mañana will be pelicula miercoles for the first time in a long time!!
What are we going to watch? 8 Minutos Antes de Morir.
It is called Source Code when shown in English speaking countries.
Hola to Daniel (my second visit) and then off to buy the verdura. Fruver did not have the best today…but we did grab some great platanos next door.
Home and then our 5pm tradition started. Bexico makes ensaladas and then does some work. I surf the web and then at 6pm we eat the ensaladas. Back to work for Bexico and around 730pm, tiempo para la cena.
And tonight’s dinner..la cena de esta noche? Pulpa cerdo con arroz y verdura. Pulpa does not translate well, but it is chunks of cerdo vs the lomo (loin) or brochette (skewer cubes of pulpa). Just call me Butcher Bubba…carnicero.
So, 9pm and you are all caught up.
No ah-ha’s para mañana…probably hola to mi amigos de Nissan, take the recycling to Fonatur and pick up some paperbacks at Café Juanita…if there are any new ones to trade for.
And of course…pelicula miercoles!!
¡Dios mío! Good God…we have an email from our maestra de español…asking of we are ready for our octubre clase!! Lo siento…we will not be here!!
Hasta mañana.
