Buenos tardes!!

630pm and I have 30 minutes or so before it is time to cook la cena…time for some blogging!!

What was the headline today? Huge storm de anoche!!! Mucha agua, mucho rayos (lightning) and today, lots of storm clean up all around town.

The boys at the complex were at it early.

Piles of leaves and branches as well as what look to be tamarind seeds.

On the way to el gimnasio, in the parque by Blvd Chahue, where Fonatur had its hands full.

Evidence of the amount of water that would have gone through the canal last night.

The meridian that runs down Blvd Chahue.

On the way to the zocalo, in front of Papaloapan.

And from the zocalo itself.

The weather today? Overcast in the morning and mainly cloudy for the rest of the day. We also had a pretty good shower from 3-4pm. But that did not stop us from having alberca time!! And we were actually joined in the downpour by a Mexican madre y niños.

As for the rest of our day, Bexico has been hard at work. I am not sure I shared this, but she secured another client and has another animation to produce.  Quite exciting.

Me? El gimnasio where I tried to get the new senorita to talk with me. Not much luck today. She doesn’t understand all my spanglish and I have confirmed she was taught some ingles in escuela, but has forgotten all of it!! Ja ja ja Oh I miss Rosa!!

I will continue to see if I can communicate with her, as I see her 6 days a week and would like to say more then hola y buenos dias.

Headed to chat up the boys after el gimnasio. They were full of questions today. We talked about solar power and how in Ontario you can sell back to the grid your extra power. Unbelievable they said. This is coming a few days after I explained to Daniel what the “boogey man” was. Ja ja ja

Good news from Gabriel the Owl…Lalo survived his time in Acapulco and will be back in a week or so.

After the pool time, off to Che. Never trust the $25 peso ($2.25 Cdn) Maxell ear buds….they sound terrible.

But we did knock tequila off our list of to-dos. Nice bottle for Mike at Nissan in Burnaby.

Home and back to work for both of us.

8pm and we have eaten the burgers….rest of the fotos?

We love Marcelino. He is always in a good mood and ready for a laugh.

He worked last night during the storm, and was back manning the gate this morning.

Here is one of the portable comedors on wheels.

I guess you learn to recognize the cook you trust, and then buy your meal from them. Prices? Muy economico.

The hombre de uva.

I saw him on sábado and he had sold all of his grapes.

I have only heard of two of these peeps existing in Huatulco.

The other one was Bexico many months ago. The roads and sidewalks here are not conducive to roller blading without severe knee damage. But…there are some new roads that are currently closed to the public and Bexico will try those come diciembre.

Dos hombres selling batería de cocina.

Sergio and Daniel tell me that hombres like this could make $200 pesos a day. They buy many of these pots and pans and get them at volume discount, and then sell them at their mark up. Still, a tough job.

Mañana? I forgot to take the camioneta into Pablo, so I will see if he is free mañana. We will also get our passports photocopied for inmigracion and our fotos taken too. Sounds like a full martes when you add in el gimnasio y alberca time!!

Last but not least.

I saw Irving, from Elektra, walking near my gym. He was handing out brochures etc and I said hola, gave him a grilling about the lavadora/secadora (5 more days…yeah right) and took one of his brochures.

How to get rich in Mexico? Open a bank inside each of your muebles tiendas.

Check out this flyer.

It is a “Back to school, need money?” type of flyer. They will lend you $9000 pesos, and all you need to do is pay back $180 pesos a week for 78 weeks. Hmmm, lets do the math. That means you will pay back $14,040 with $5040 of that being interest….a 37% annual interest rate.

But the good news? The $180 pesos a week is a Special!! Normally it would be $270 a week…only a 89% interest rate. And people actually sign up for this….because they have the need for the money and feel they have to. Hmmmmm.

That’s all amigos.

Hasta mañana.
