Buenos noches!! Our full day in the DF aeropuerto is coming to a close as Max is in the bathtub and soon to be asleep!!
I think we were up at 620am...yikes. We all got up and headed out for a prowl and some desayunos. After an hour or so, Bex headed back to the room for another tina and some tranquilo time. The boys did a 2 hour prowl of the aeropuerto before heading back to the hotel.
Once there, we sat in the lounge and watched the planes take off and land. And how many times did our excited lil'man say "abiond", meaning avion, airplane? No less then 100 times!!
Into the room for leche y siesta and a muy raro occurrence...Bex came to the lounge to get The Whisperer as Max needed his Poppa to get him to sleep.
It didn't take long to get him asleep and after some computer time, we had familia siesta!!
During the prowl we had seen an ad for a metro bus that would take us to the Centro...all for $30 pesos and 30 minutos, so after nap time, off we went.
A little complicated charging the fare card, but a super friendly polica mujer helped us out and catching the bus was muy facil, easy.
It took 45 minutos and we were not sure where we were, but saw a large parque and a lot of peeps, so we got off the bus and started our prowl.
First stop was a Sanborns cafe...never again mis amigos!! But we needed to eat and that was the first place we ran into. If we had continued on our prowl for another 10 minutes, we would have hit the motherload of restaurantes. Doph. Oh well.
We prowled to the Zócalo...huge and full of peeps. This place would be crazy when it is full on nights like Fin de Año!!
Max had been a trooper but his "nice mood" tanque was running low, so it was time to find the bus back to the airport. We got back to the correct calle...but did not have enough pesos on our cards. Doph.
We asked one hombre and he said we had to go back many blocks to the Metro as they did not have the machines nearby.
We asked another guy and he pointed us in the direction of a tienda de abarrotes and sure enough we scored another $60 pesos on the tarjetas to get us back "home".
Tranquilo time in the hotel...sort of. The last time we were here, we had a tina that did not hold agua...madre was triste!! They sent us a $50 US gift card and while Bex y Max had tranquilo time in the room, I hit the lounge with the computer and ordered a double Crown. Not cheap...$350 pesos including propina.
But not to worry as that is only $30 US and I had the gift card...that they could not get to work...and I had to pay cash anyway. Do you think I would have ordered a $30 Crown if I had to pay cash? Argh.
Off to dinner and after a large, but mainly unappealing lunch, we hit the airport food court. Good eats for all and then after some silly time, it was back to our room for the tina time which is now over.
Thirty minutos until The Whisperer will be called back into duty for bedtime. Onto the fotos.
After a 90 minute delay for the departure from HUX to MEX, and then arriving and waiting 20 minutos at the gate before the door was opened, we ALL looked like this!!
But like I said ayer, Max was a trooper for almost the complete día!! Bex's expert travel suitcase, full of Max diversion items, worked like a charm!!
Awake at 6am I think, and here I think Max is ready to go go go...not sure about Madre.
Dressed for the 8,0 grado morning temperatures, and intrigued with the escalator.
Four vuelos demorado, six a tiempo y uno, ours, cancelado.
A little fuzzy due to the superior performance of the Sony DSC W730, but this is the scene en frente de la United counter...they had 2 cancelled flights to deal with. Nice...argh.
Max showing me how big the hombre de nieve is.
To commemorate Max's first time on an escalator, we took this foto from his 100th trip of the día.
What to do with a few hours to kill? Prowl, prowl, prowl!!!
And scope out all the different arbols de Navidad we can find.
And of course...banderas. Max loves his banderas.
Future gymnast? Or just another accident waiting to happen?
On the new, clean and zero emission autobus.
The muy seguro autobus!!
Oh, Max was excited!!
A few rollercoaster'ish bumps in the calle. Weeeeee!!
Jackie Onassis?
No official stop for the zocalo, so we got off at the Bellas Artes stop.
Jack Onassis?
A very nice parque...that we walked past on the way to our crappy comida at Sanborns. Argh.
Who knew? Beethoven was Mexicano!!
Outside the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
And ta-da...the Palacio de Bellas Artes!!
An old building, covered in some neat Talavera tiles.
I think the casa is relatively young for DF standards, only 109 years old.
We did not go in.
Some neat side calles in the Centro Historico.
We knew we were headed in the right direction as we started to see more and more peeps.
5 de Mayo, looking norte.
Looking sur.
Getting closer to the zocalo.
$15 pesos to get your foto taken with IronMan...or Mickey Mouse...or The Hulk...
Some Virgen...
Tobogan de hielo...who knew?
Coca Cola arbol de Navidad.
All buses stopped here, but we were the only ones to move our way to the front to actually get on the bus headed to the aeropuerto.
Ok mis amigos...you are all caught up. 840pm and Max is lights out...no need for The Whisperer as he wasn't wanted or needed...Bex took care of bedtime.
Bex is having her 5th (?) bath of the día and after some web surfing, Bubba is lights out.
Big travel día coming up. We have a few hours in the morning to kill, and then through security by around 1030am or 11am and we fly at 125pm. First stop is Dallas and then after 3 hours, onto YVR and arriving 930pm.
Oh Max's sleep schedule will be wacked by the time we get to Van, but hopefully we can get him back on schedule by the time we are in Whistler on Wednesday...fingers crossed.
So....late arrival into Van...probably no blog update. But you never know. Stay tuned and hasta pronto.
Marco, Bexico y Max
