Buenos noches.

First off, a belated Feliz Cumpleaños to mi sobrina, Nicole!!

And as promised…the weather stats for octubre!!

We had average highs of 32,2 and lows of 26,7 and that compares to octubre 2010’s numbers of 32,3 and 24,8. So, almost bang on for highs, but it has been much warmer at night. Global warming? Or rippers?

What can we expect in noviembre? 31,3 and 22,7 were the numbers from 2010…nice and cool evenings. We already experienced a few of those where we chilled down the room before Max went to sleep, but were able to turn off the a/c by 11pm. Cha ching…should save us some loot.

Ok, how was our day? It started with a good night…weaning is going well…I think.

Bex had a good sleep solo, but missed her boys. We were up at 630am and off we went.

Good AM rutina, but the lil’guy hasn’t been into desayunos for the past few days. Por que?

Had our morning walk and boy was the town tranquilo. Many tiends were not open due to the holiday…or the effects of last night’s celebrations!!

A good nap for us…not such a good one in the afternoon. Maybe that is why Max was lights out at 745pm?

Madre y Max had their walk, I went to el gimnasio and then when I came home, we all hit up Che. Tons of peeps and only a few caja working today…long lines.

We grabbed all the bebidas for domingo so all that is left is to grab the postre y pastel, the cervezas and the hielo. And then of course we need to set it all up. We are excited…it will be a fun time.

Lots of fotos to be taken and then we will go out for la cena that night…no cooking for padre!!

Misc

Lots of Canadians have arrived at CP…the beer can recycling bin is full again. Ja ja ja

I have too many fotos on my hard drive…I have been given the Mac warning. I think we have transferred them to an external hard drive, but we double check before deleting any of the thousands we have of the lil’guy!!

Fotos.

From Max y madre's walk.

From the morning walk...padre y Batman.

For dramatic effect...the cape shot.

Checking security on parked cars.

Darn Superman...

Burning off a few calories.

Not in the tent Max...not in the tent!!

Sock fetish Friday.

And prior to Max y madre's walk.

As I said...slow día in Huatulco. One foto...and it is of Amy who was done work early today. Tiempo para chelas he tells me.

Mañana? My gym is closed for the day. I might go to the rico gym, or maybe take a day off and get a hair cut!!

The race? In Texas on domingo…will PVR it and watch it Sunday night.

Short and sweet….that’s all I have for you.

Buen fin de semana.

Hola y Feliz Día de los Muertos!!

As read in the Oaxaca newspaper, here is what you need for your Día de los Muertos altar.

Ø  La cruz…the cross
Ø  Imagen de las animas del purgatorio…a picture of the soul, to help them exit purgatory
Ø  Copal e incienso…copal, an aromatic tree resin, and incense to clean the environment
Ø  Arco…an arc on the altar, decorated with limonairias y flor de cempasuchil…lemongrass and marigolds
Ø  Papal picado…chopped paper…no sé por que
Ø  Velas, veladores y cirios…3 different words for candles and I am sure each means a specific type of candle…preferably white and purple colors
Ø  Agua…water to reflect the purity of the soul and to help regenerate life
Ø  Flores…more marigold flowers
Ø  Calaveras…small figurines made of sugar or plaster or clay
Ø  Comida…food. Traditional or favorites for the soul to enjoy when they visit
Ø  Pan..bread. Christians look at bread as the body of Christ.
Ø  Bebida alcohólicas..duh. Sips of tequila, mezcal o pulque, a beverage made from the sap of the maguey plant
Ø  Fruta…fruit. Normally apples, oranges, mandarins, jicama, tejocte (resembles a crabapple)

Ok, there is your cultural lesson for the day.

Our day….5am wake up, one hour and 15 minutes of slumber and then we were up!!

Usual rutina, but the lil’guy was not hungry this morning. He made up for it later in the day when he wolfed back his comida y cena.

Good walk and madre joined us at the kiosko. She had been up early to see a seamstress…but they were closed due to the Día…doph. So she came out to see her familia!!

Max saw his amiga and they chased each other around for a while.

Max had 2 good naps today and padre finally caved in and took another one for himself. These 5 and 6 am shifts took their toll and I grabbed another 2 hours…waking up at 2pm. Yikes.

Still managed a trip to el gimnasio, took in the recycling and made it home in time for a trip to playa Santa Cruz con the familia.

3pm the clouds rolled in and there were some showers as well, but they held off while we were swimming and running in the sand. Nice and cool…no need for sunscreen.

Max had a blast and Sandra from INM came out to say hola and take a few more fotos. We had given her invitacion to Nathalie and she wanted to thank us for it. I suspect we will see her at the shin dig!!

It is getting dark waaaay early and at 6pm I needed headlights on the camioneta. We headed home and had a good PM rutina, which started with the yummy pizza from Baker Bex.

Currently 945pm, Max is asleep and has already has his 45 minute soothing. Like clockwork…45 minutes after he first falls asleep, he will wake up and cry and either need a hug, a kiss or a soother.

Bex is working hard in the oficina and we have a great plan for her to get a good sleep…a well deserved good sleep. Tank up the lil’machine at midnight or so and then she will sleep in the otra recamara and I will get Max some agua when he wakes up during the night. Stay tuned.

Fotos…lean day. Two hour naps from noon until 2pm will make that happen. Doph.

Max's dientes are really coming in!!

They almost looked like fangs?

Amigos...until Kow took Max's (mine...like I will ever get it back) camo playera!!

Take out the garbage and the trash, or you don't get no stinking cash...

Naaaah, it was a bag of clothes that we dropped off at Cruz Rojas, the Red Cross.

Padre needs a corte de cabello!!

Mañana…play it by ear.

Sábado I am going to get the bebidas for the party and on domingo I will grab the chelas y postres before Samuel y Moises come over at media-día.

Have a great viernes!!

PS...check back mañana for the octubre temperature stats!!
